The Ten OPSEC and COMSEC Points:

Don't discuss future destinations or ports of call!
Don't discuss future operations or missions!
Don't discuss dates and times of when we will be in port or conducting exercises!
Don't discuss readiness issues and numbers!
Don't discuss specific training equipment!
Don't discuss people's names and billets in conjunction with operations!
Don't speculate about future operations!
Don't spread rumors about operations!
Don't assume the enemy is not trying to collect information on you so he can kill you, he is!
Be smart, use your head, and always think OPSEC and COMSEC when using email or phone!

Rules of thumb for parents and loved ones:
*If your sailor indicates to you they can't tell you something, believe them. Don't try to coax them into telling.
*If it is published by the navy about where a ship or unit has been (not going), that is when it's okay to share.
*If your sailor is in a high security area, say a nuke or EOD, consider using a nick name for them and you, a seperate email without your name on it, and don't even tell where YOU live. Let them tell you what they want you to tell others or if they are worried about info, always let them know you are on here. That's why they are careful on here about only putting first names on your profile page.
*Be aware, the OPSEC 10 points are about what they can't talk about. Think about what YOU might share as a parent or loved one of a military member that could cause trouble. You also have a responsibilty.
*Be respectful and teach other parents if they don't know and say too much, no need to be disrespectful or mean to them about it. Just guide them and let them know they maybe need to rewrite or delete the post. There isn't a member on here that wants to cause trouble or harm. They just aren't thinking or don't know.

Anyone have a CM in Port Hueneme graduating on June 20th?

Comment by Debi on Tuesday

Well the EO's at FLW got a lesson in what happens when people do stupid things! They were all called in to watch 3 of thier more senior classmates go before the Captian's Mast for alcohol related infractions. Now all the EOs there are on a "lockdown" of sorts to teach them all that stupid is as stupid does.  I just hope seeing what can happen will teach some of the newer SeaBees a lesson so it doesn't happen to them.

Sandria -  He opted to go directly to Coronado so he could have some leave time in June for his sisters wedding.  He got in last night around 11:00.  Had a real nice phone visit while he was in the airport waiting.

Congratulations to all who have sailors graduating! My sailor starts his classes today for EO at FLW. He was a Pall Bearer yesterday for a funeral for a Chief, his first military funeral outside of his grandfather's 10 years ago. He was also cleaning like a demon because he had his first room inspection this morning. I'm praying he remembers everything from bootcamp about cleaning so he passes with flying colors ;)

My son graduates tomorrow CM A school in Port Hueneme and reports to Amphibious Construction Battalion One in Coronado, CA.  Is anyone else on here that has someone in Coronado?

Well my sailor is all settled into his room at A school :) He gave us the nickle tour of the room via Skype! It was so nice to see him and talk to him at the same time. He was more excited to find out that when he doesn't have duty on the weekends he can sleep all day if he wants! LOL  I have to say it was the best Mothers Day present to see him happy!

Although I didn't get to speak with my future Seabee on Mother's Day I certainly knew he would be thinking of me. We took pictures of the family holding signs wishing him well and I made a collage that was sent out this morning. 17 days until my boy has his PIR. Hope all of you wonderful ladies had a great Mother's Day!
