I posted this on the Pre/BUDs group, but here it is again:

Lovestofly-
They used to give the BUD/S students PRK once they were in San Diego, but now their eyesight must be corrected before they enlist. I am assuming he passed the eye exam at MEPS when he had his physical? And now they say he does not pass? That would be hugely frustrating...if he is presently in boot camp, is there a way the Navy would release from his SEAL contract so he could have PRK, stay in DEP, and then re-ship? Hope you are able to get some information, it is hard when communication is slow.

How do you find out if a person is dis-qualified for Seals with eye sight? My ex told me that our son wrote him a letter telling him that because of his eye sight that he won't be able to quailfy for Seals. How do I support him? How do I find out?

Angela, Congratulations to your son for this amazing achievement! You must be so proud. Enjoy the graduation and the celebration that I'm sure will follow. Extra prayers for safe travels.

Angela,

Congratulations and we are very proud to have another Mom join this elite group!

Dress for the weather, whatever makes you comfortable! I agree it was more dressy than casual and of course our sons should expect the best from us as they celebrate the best of themselves on this crowning achievement.

Truly enjoy, take lots of pictures and listen to all of the stories. You will not forget the peace they display having achieved their goal.

Welcome to the club!

My son saw the graduation before this one and he made a point to tell me that it was very dressy-he said suits and all-I'm a very casual dresser, rarely makeup or hair do- I wore dress pants and casual top to his PIR-I seemed appropriate as there was a wide range of dress, but I think this is dressier-Don't know for sure-though Angela-hope this helps-enjoy the day!!!!!!

Thank you everyone for your support. Hopefully we will get out of Boston on time. Snow is due in at the same time we are to take off.. Fingers crossed. Does anyone know what the appropriate dress is for family at graduation. Dress or casual?
