My son just announced he got ET/NAV. Can anyone give me a heads up on what this is all about?

Yes, it is Basic Enlisted Submarine School (hope I got that right) . I think it is around 45 days, before they go on to A school. Good to have you here, I am pretty new at this myself, my son is just starting BESS right now. He graduates from boot camp in early August. He loves Groton, it seems most of the guys like it there so I hope your son enjoys it too!

Marty yes BESS is sub school.. which is 7 to 8 weeks long... My husband is there now!

Am new to this - my son still at BC, but will be going to Groton in October. Can someone please tell me what BESS is? Is that the sub training before they go to A school? Thanks.

What do you ladies/guys think about the NAVY letting women on submarines.. I kind of don't like the idea, but idk.. so much controversy..

both Nav-ET and FT (and ST) training pipelines, including BESS, ATT, TCNO and "A" school are in that 28-33 week timeframe, when you include some time on hold. ET-Comm is two weeks longer.

I just found out that my son got ET NAV. He wanted ET COMM but I think this was his 2nd choice. ANyone know how long the school is on this one? Thanks!
