Well, we will hold out for Monday for sure! They write on Sundays, goes out on Monday. Surely Monday we will get our official first letter.

I am actually out of town for Christmas. My neighbor is pulling in my mail and on "high allert" looking for anything that may be from Anthony (my son). The box came on Mon, and he managed to write a little note on the back of the cardboard tag from his socks! Got the form letter on Wed. Wish I could be opening these things myself, but having her read it to me is better than nothing! Hoping to be home before New Years Eve. I haven't heard from her, so I guess nothing came today. We can hope for Monday, right?

If you happen to see anyone else posting from this ship/div, invite them over here to our little group Tchrmom. It will eventually grow, I think.

Thanks for the reply Andria! I'm so glad they get mail everyday. I don't know where I got the impression that they only have mail call on Sunday. I know they can only wrtie on Sunday, but aside from that thought they got all their mail then also. Is it a daughter you have in ship 03/div 082?

They get mail everyday just like we do. No mail on Sundays or holidays. Mail call is the highlight of their day! They long to hear from home.  I will be happy to start getting mail too! They only get to write on Sundays and you will learn your what your "mail day" is quickly. When my son was in bootcamp, mine was Thursday and the mail lady knew I would be stalking her every Thursday come rain, sleet or sunshine.

I'm a new Navy mom. My son was not happy about leaving before Christmas (his original ship out date was Dec 28). It also happens to be my birthday the 24th, and while I don't make a big deal of it, he wanted to be home for it. This website is great support- although I'm not really fluent in blogs, discussions, threads, what have you...

Does anyone know if they receive mail every day? once a week? I know that right now they can only write on Sunday, but what about incoming mail?
