Kathryn, Loved your comment on the Jar Heads. LOL The last deployment my son had was with 1,200 "Jar Heads". He griped, he moaned, Ha! I told him to play nice with the little jars! To say the least, he was Thrilled! went they got off the ship.
Well, good luck with the walking and definately stay away from Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi and all other products with Nutri Sweet in them. My son just sent me the lastes study about Aspartimine (did I spell that right?) anyway, they have proven that it acts as a poison to some people and the symptoms are very severe and serious. Splenda is ok. Yes, I do wash the lemons, the spinach, all fruit, veggies, those reports are disgusting! Yuck! Keep us all posted!!

Thanks for the encouragement and congrats on the weight loss ivonbirdlane! That is an amazing amount for only 4 weeks. Good job!!
The weather has been really nice here this week and my husband and I have taken advantage of it by taking our walks in the park. I even did the walking backwards thing there. Ha Ha - made sure no one was around first. My husband said they used to make them do that in the Marines. I doubt if it was for the same reason though. He said they had to walk and run both backwards and side ways. So if it is good enough for the Jar Heads it is good enough for this Navy Mom. LOL It is supposed to rain today though, so I guess I will either stick to the neighborhood with an umbrella or go clean off the treadmill and use it for something other than a clothes hanger.

I have been drinking so much water. Gave up on the diet Cokes and feel much better. I always put a wedge of lemon in mine to jazz it up a bit. Make sure to wash the lemon really well if you do this. They have done studies about lemons in restaurants - really yucky stuff.

Hey Ladies! I weighed in with the Dr., four weeks and lost a whoppin' 14.6 pounds!
If I can do it...anyone can do it! Drink lots of water...the more you drink...the more you shrink. It needs to be water, tea and coffee go out the bladder where H2O goes throughout your entire body. Lets all get healthy for our Sailors!!

Kathryn, you can do it! Well, I don't know about getting the body like Fergie, but I have full confidence in you! Let the Journey Begin!!!!
Kathryn Comment by Kathryn on October 14, 2009 at 9:33am
Thanks for the tip Ivonbidlane. I read that Fergie (the singer - not the princess) does that. So if it works for her...
I'd love to have a body like that. Ha Ha. I'm going to try it and hope that I don't fall off of it and look like some of those people you see on Funniest Home Videos.

Hey Kathryn,
I work in the Rehab Department at a Hospital and had to do P.T. myself for low back pain, anyway, one thing my Therapist had me do was walk (slowly) on the treadmill backwards! It strengthens your core and your abdominal muscles. Try it and you'll see what I mean. Let me know how you like it. IV

Hello gals, I blew it today, my friend took me to Pizza Hut for an early birthday lunch. I ate a big salad with lite Ranch, but then ate 2 thin slices of C. Bacon and Pineapple. When I got back to work, we had caramel and apple slices, then when I got home I had 2 big mugs of Tomatoe Soup made with 1% milk and Reduced Fat Cheese Nip crackers. I even counted out 29 exactly because that was 1 serving size. BUT, I didn't count out the next 3 handfuls I grabbed out of the box. Oh well. Just a TS=Temporay Setback. I'll do better tomorrow, and I'll drink more water, I didn't drink much today. See you all Lighter!! :)

OK it is a new week, I got a clean bill of health from the doctor, back to my walking and exercise routine. The weather still stinks here, though. It is cold, dreary and rainy. But since I hate the treadmill, I guess I will just have to bundle up and take a good umbrella. Who cares if my hair turns into one big frizzy mess. I really do feel better after I walk, so that will be my motivation. Just have to do it after dark so no one sees me. LOL

Angie F.,
Thank you SSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO much for the encouraging words! I
really need to hear them. Usually, I'm the positive thinking one, the "cheerleader", but boy howdy, with this weight deal, I feel like a failure. Talk about letting myself go. Yuck! I see a Dr. in December that told me to lose 50 pounds... last year...I wonder if he'll believe me if I say I lost it, then gained 40 back?!? LOL Well, here's to accepting the Fact of Life, that I will have a new way of eating for LIFE, not a "D I E T" Gotta' run! Not like literally run, Ha! I'm not THAT into it yet! LOL Thanks a million!!!

I agree . . . the scale is just one way to track 'progress' and CAN be misleading and discouraging (muscle DOES weigh more than fat!!!)
I recommend using a tape measure and even if you ONLY measure your waist, you can use that as a 'baseline' . . .
BTW . . . I haven't TOTALLY fallen off the face of the earth! I'm still 'recovering' from my trip:)! Hope everyone is having a GREAT day . . . GIANT HUGS:)!
