Roll Call: Name your sailor's sub!

Good morning, hope all you ladies are well today.

My son-in-law to be is on his first deployment as a culinary specialist aboard the USS Philadelphia. When they return he and my daughter plan on getting married. We are very new to sub and Navy life and appreciate any help we can get as our sailor neglected to get in touch with the ombudsman before deploying. He should be trying to rectify that situation presently. Meanwhile I'm trying to get to learn the routine of being a sub mom.

We live in Rhode Island and can be in their home port in roughly an hour, which is wonderful when they are in port as we can spend weekends and off time together. And my daughter and her sailor plan on getting into housing there after they get married.

I would love to be in touch with any other moms with a sailor on the Philly too. Feel free to add me to your friends. I am also on Facebook.

Trish, I accidentally removed you as a Friend... sorry! If you'll visit my page, there are a few blog entries with information I found helpful as a new sub mom. Also, in the Sub Mom "Discussion Forums," there's a discussion titled "Lovely Links to Know." These are also valuable sources of sub info. Hope that helps! Hugs, k.

My son, Anthony is on the USS Miami. He been deployed now for 208 days or 6 months 25 days. Is there anyone out there who is getting worried about their child because I am and I wish I could hear something. Thanks. Jean C

Usually, while deployed, emails can sent and received sporadically when the sub surfaces for communications. Go to my page and check out the blog entry, "How to Send Email to a Submarine." Hope it helps! k.

HI my name is Vicky and my son is on the USS Maimi. He works in the radio room. This is his first 6 month deployment, and we can't wait to see him when ever they get back. But he has done very well and my husband and I are very proud of him, as he has earned his silver dolphin pin. Nice to meet all of you moms.
