Gloria the only thing my son wants is home cooked food but says not to send any because it would probably be stale by the time he got to the PO to pick it up. He is very independent. Family members have asked if they could send him a box of something and he just doesn't want it. Stubborn! I did send him a small Christmas tree and ornaments for his first Christmas there since he would not be with us. I couldn't tell you if he ever put it back up (if he ever took it down!)

We have sent him a couple of shirts with his favorite college teams logo, but he is hard to buy for. The only other thing I have sent is pictures of family.

Suzanne - my sailor was born in Lafayette! I was born and raised in Gonzales and my husband in Denham Springs. We lived in Lafayette for 2 years and moved back to OK when my sailor was 3 months old.

And as for football I will always bleed purple and gold....LSU TIGERS!!!

my job is colletion thing to send to our kids what is the one thing that they dont have around or need what could we help them with?

Of course my husbands favorite team is Navy. After all he did graduate from USNA once upon a time.

Football, I presume. My mighty Trojans are flaming out - I may have to withdraw my alumni donations. My husband's quiche-eating Stanfordites may be Rose Bowl bound - go figure. We'll see what happens when they play each other on Sat. OU hasn't been the same since Bradford got hurt. I just hope they beat UT.

Thanks Rhonda. My son is studying petroleum engineering. He shares an apartment at the Reserve with two other students - a development near the golf course. 3 bdrm, 3 bath, living room, kitchen, inside washer/dryer, air-conditioning, completely furnished, internet and cable included - all for $399 each per month. For an extra $25, he has a covered parking spot close to his building. Included is shuttle service to the other side of campus. After paying $1200 per month for a studio for his previous transitional year in Southern CA, we thought we had died and gone to real estate heaven - at least cloud nine after we pay the out-of-state tuition. Did I mentioned the management office is as nice as can be? My son and his best friend (family from Durante, OK) both left West Point after 2 years. Well, that how he ended up at OU, instead of UT. If your son is home and wants to visit someone at OU, let me know. The two guys (both 21) both like blues music. The third guy (22 or 23) is also a native OK, studying for his MBA. My son will probably be there through June 2012 when the gravy trains stops running, whether he has a degree or not.
