Hey Peg I am so sorry to hear that you are not going to be there! I was really looking forward to meeting you and your son, since he and my son have become such good friends. All these guys have worked so very hard the last several months, and I know my son loves it. It makes you feel so good to be an AMERICAN knowing we have all these people to defend us. I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!

My son actually PIR in August and has been in BUDS/prep since then. His class was so large that they offered other jobs and he wanted to go SWCC before, so when it was offered again, he took it. They're telling him he'll ship out the first part of January. About 25 guys from his class got SWCC contracts. I'm very jazzed about it for him. I LOVE San Diego, can't wait to go there to see him.

I'm a little luckier than most parents, my son was only a few hours away, until a few months ago, now he has been deployed. SWCC has so much training, it's my understanding that it takes a long time before they are deployed. SD is an awsome place to be stationed! I believe all SWCC training is done there. Your son probably knows Nikki's brother. They are probably on the same ship.

Hi D'sMum35, I'm so glad you posted. I'm going to try to get more SWCC moms on here regularly. We could really benefit from your experience. My son was in pre-buds and then received a SWCC contract, but he's still in Great Lakes on hold waiting for the next class to start. I live in No. Calif so I'm hoping to visit him at least once while he's training. Anything you care to share is appreciated. I would love to have some of his friends come for 'home cooking' someday.

I am a SWCC mom. I am new to this group. I agree with Tee-1sailor's mom, it would be great to see some more activity. My son tested for SWCC before signing up. The diffrence in these young men is amazing. We live close to the Coronado base, so he would come home almost every weekend. He brings his buddies sometimes. His first year, he brought home three sailors for Thanksgiving. It was a lot of fun. We had dinner outside, one of the sailors grew up in the mid west. He loved that it was 78 degrees! They are a great group, and my sons ship is now deployed! We miss all of them. Some days more than others! Thank you all for everything you contribute.

Hello,
My brother is graduating from bootcamp this weekend (11/13). He said that he'll stay in Great Lakes for ten days after graduation before going to SWCC school. Does anyone else have a loved one going to SWCC school at around the same time? I'd love to hear from you!
