Navy For Moms

Hi,
My son is in A school in South Carolina. His MOS is Machinist Mate. I live in Southwest Austin and would love to find another Navy mom in the area to chat with.

Hello Danne my son is on the USS George Washington deployed in Japan. I would love to hear from you and any other local moms.

Danne and Others, I am a "new" Navy mom and I live in Round Rock. Our son PIR'd 11/6/09. He will be in Great Lakes for A school (on hold right now.) I don't believe he will begin ATT school until after Christmas. So far, we have been very pleased and he is VERY happy with his life choice.

Yep ... another Austin area Navy Mom here. Live in Round Rock, work near the Capitol. My sailor is on the USS Ronald Reagan.

I split my time between Leander and Cherry Spring. My son was in NROTC at A&M ( N1 Commander 2005-06), spent 2 years in Norfolk on USS Forest Sherman and currently deployed on the USS Hopper out of Hawaii. To the new Aggie NROTC mom - visit him and go to outfit events as much as you can. You will treasure those memories later when he is on active duty and far from Texas. We went to all the banquets and as many of the BBQs & March Ins as we possibly could and made lasting friendships with his buddies' parents. We had a wonderful time visiting him in Hawaii before he deployed. Now the visits, messages, and calls are far apart, not by choice, but by duty.

Myronsmom...nice to meet another Aggiemom on here! There are at least 4 of us on N4Ms! My son is at the Galveston campus at TAMU, so we don't really get to see him much. I know what you mean by trying to meet up w/him every chance we have. We just drove down there on a whim a couple of weekends ago, packed an overnite bag, husband, son, dog, and away we went! He was happy to see us and it was so worth the drive! I miss him so much, but I know I have to prepare myself for what's to come after he graduates. I'm not looking forward to that. Did your son feel that A&M/Corps/NROTC prepared him well enough? What did he major in? What did he choose for his Navy career (if you're able to tell me!) Sorry for all these random questions...as you can tell, we're new at this! Take care, and hope to talk to you soon!

I think we should all meet. Maybe a Saturday afternoon? I know the holiday times are busy - perhaps after the New Year. Anyone interested?

I'm game. Any weekend I don't have to work is good with me.

Nice idea. I'm in if you can schedule it before Jan 23rd as that is the date I fly out to VA to see my son and his wife and wait for the arrival of my first grandchildren, twin boys.

Let's say January 16. - and congrats on the grandkids! wow! Anyone else game for that date? Let's meet in mid-town Austin as it's sort of the center of the area people have said they were from. Any suggestions? We can wear Navy gear to recognize each other. :)
