April 8, 2009 (DALLAS, TX)—On May 9th, North Texans ages 13 and up will have an opportunity to test their personal fitness level against members of the elite special operations teams of the United States Navy SEALs.

The Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge, a free event, is headed to the Keller ISD Natatorium and Field May 9. Registrants can enter online at: sealfitnesschallenge.com.

The Fitness Challenge consists of a 500-yard swim, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and 1.5-mile run. It mirrors the same Physical Screening Test that Navy Special Warfare candidates must pass in order to enter the rigorous training program. In addition, participants will have a chance to meet real Navy SEALs and other Navy Special Warfare and Special Operations personnel, who will be on hand to coach and motivate participants.

“The Navy is coming to Texas to encourage citizens to become more fit,” said Petty Officer 1st Class David Goggins, Navy SEAL and champion Ultra endurance athlete. “Utilizing our SEAL standards is an excellent way to measure their own fitness levels and give them an incentive to improve.”

Persons of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to compete—from high school and elite athletes to seniors. Families are encouraged to come out and compete together or cheer others on from the spectator areas.

All participants will earn t-shirts of varying colors, based on their performance. Participants will also be eligible to become the “Most Fit Male” and “Most Fit Female” in North Texas in seven specific age and gender categories: Men 13-17; Men 18-30; Men 31-44; Men 45+; Women 13-17; Women 18-30 & Women 31+.

The Fitness Challenge tour began in Boston in 2007 and has made stops in San Antonio, Los Angeles, Calif., Dearborn, Mich., Chicago, Ill., Atlanta, Ga. and Phoenix, Ariz.

The Navy Parachute Team is scheduled to make two (2) jumps during the event day on May 9 and NavyForMoms.com will be in attendance to provide their support for all of the participants and spectators.

Men and women ages 13 and up interested in participating can visit sealfitnesschallenge.com to pre-register a time slot and obtain detailed event information. Slots are limited for this free event, so those interested are encouraged to act quickly and register online.

I would have taken you up on the offer. Do you know if they will be having any other N4M in Texas later?

I'm sure we will!! Not sure if they will be Navy for Mom sponsored like this one - or just dinner like we have done in Beaumont and Waco.

Brenda Sue, I am working on plans to be there that weekend. My friend, the one I visited after Waco meet and greet, lives in Keller and we have been trying to come up with a "reason" to get together again...lol This is a perfect reason!!! Hope to see you all there!
