A Little Bit About TEXAS

Welcome all Moms who hail from the very proud state of TEXAS!!! Please tell us about where you live in Texas (we all know it is pretty big). Also, give us an idea about what your Sailor is doing and where he/she is (watch for OPSEC issues, though).

Thanks for the info, Heather's Mom. We just received the form letter today, 2 1/2 weeks after he left for basic. It's good to have an address for him. He feels a little closer somehow. We're looking forward to a letter, too. Oh, we live in Abilene.

Hi Renote,
I'm assuming from your blog that you have gotten the 30 second "i'm here" call. You should receive a form letter in a couple days with about 3 hand written lines from Aaron. This form will have his address. If you don't receive this letter in a few days call the recruiter. By day 4 at least he will have the address for your son. While you're waiting for this start writing so you can send out the letters as soon as you get the address. Letters are better than candy or coke right now. Aaron won't actually get a letter for about 3 weeks. He will write telling you he hasn't and wonder why you don't write. This is all normal process though. It broke my heart when our daughter thought we were just too busy to write. I knew she should have gotten at least a dozen letters by then. I write every day. It's never too often for them.Don't send anything that will draw attention to them(like musical cards). Letters, letters, and more letters. Nothing from home except maybe sport clippings and a few photos. And did I mention letters? Tell him about anything that happens throughout your day.How proud you are. You know, normal mooshy Mom stuff. You absolutely can go to graduation. 4 guests are allowed. Aaron will be given a form to indicate the names of the 4 people that will be attending. You might want to discuss that via mail before so he knows who to expect. This will come in a packet later. By the way, graduation is also called PIR(pass in review). What will Aaron be doing after bootcamp? Hope this helps.

Hey there everyone~ Okay give me the run down on what our kiddos are doing when they go to boot camp, where do I find the address to send him a care package or is that not wise? What about graduation from bootcamp, can parents go? So many questions, can someone guide me?
