Dear Kristine~ My heartfelt prayers for you! May the peace of God be with you and give your heart rest! May I take the time to post a prayer from our Prayer Book. It is for all in the military.

For the Army, the Navy, and the Air Forces of Our Country

ALMIGHTY God, the strong Tower and Refuge of thy people; We entreat thy favour upon the officers and all who are enlisted in the service of defence of our country, upon land, and on the water, and in the air. Ever spare them from being ordered into a war of aggression or oppression. Use them if need be, as thine instruments, in the defence of our national life and liberty. But restrain, we beseech thee, the greed and wrath of man, that wars may cease in all the
earth. Deepen in the hearts of our defenders the spirit of peace; and, for his sake, may they ever love and serve the Prince of Peace, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Hi ladies--just wanted to welcome all you newbies. I second Donnanavymom's comment about starting a PIR 1/15 group and also a group with your recruits ship # when you find that out. My son is a corpsman and even though his PIR was a year ago Sept it feels like years ago. He is now in Afgh with a group of Marines. He will be home for neither Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, or Mother's Day. I'm hoping he'll be home before Father's Day but even when they do get home they have a period of time they need to spend on base before they are allowed back home. Bootcamp was very hard for me and I'm actually fairing better with his deployment than I did bootcamp. Although today I am anxious for the first time he left (about a month ago) and don't know why. Just a bad feeling.

I think my letter came a few days after my box. Did anyone get the tags off the socks in their box? That was a funny thing as so many of us got the tags off their tube socks in the box. And you will have a particular mail day. My mail day was Thursdays. (it actually would be more appropriate to refer to those Thursdays as stalkling the mailman days)

If you start a new group called PIR 1/15/09 all divisions; ya'll will get a ton of information from hundreds of sailor moms, wives, and girlfriends. It was great when my son went through (11/6/09). We kept each other informed from our letters.

Kris...YOU KNOW HOW THE MAIL IS!!!!!! Monday should be your day! Where are you located? Talked to Mata5sons from Corpus Christi on here last night. Her son left same day as well. She got the form letter & the box, but others that I have spoken to have not. Tomorrow will probably be YOUR DAY!

Hi Melinda..I live in Kirby, over by BAMC. I work in vicinity of Medical Center Area at a CPA firm. In reference to your Sean not being able to come home for Christmas, chalk it up to another step towards military life &, on the brighter side, be thankful that he isnt in the war zone! Are yall alone for Christmas? Any other kids or family? I would love to meet cha for lunch sometime if that is do able for ya?

The recruiter wasnt the one that gave me the info. I received his box & a form letter on Friday, Nov 20. When did your son leave Debra?

Bonny, how did you find out son's info so fast? I can't get ahold of my son's recruiter! Arrggghhh!!!

Welcome Bonny! I have a Sean too, but he has been in the Navy for 3 years now! He is an ET on the USS Momsen in Everett, Washington. We are really upset this year because he is not going to be able to come home for Christmas. He still has not gotten leave approval and the air fares have already gotten too expensive. I live in San Antonio too, near 1604 between 281 and I 35. Where do you live?
