Good afternoon ladies! Glad to see so much activity on this site. I haven't been on here in a while. Anyway, my son is in A school in Meridian, MS. He PIR date was 9/25. He received orders on yesterday to San Diego.

I don't get on here as much as I used to because I stopped getting e-mail notices and I'm absolutely amazed by how this group has grown. 748 members! Wow. That's really impressive.

Amy, this might not hold true for your situation, but my son has been in the Navy for about just over two years, and they have always given them a choice of leave for Christmas or New Year's. He's been deployed for six and one-half months and that's been hard, but we've sent him lots of packages, so that helps when he's not here on birthdays.

Good evening ladies! I'm looking for anyone with a sailor on the Nicholas in Norfolk. My son arrived aboard 9/27. We haven't heard from him much; a couple of calls the first few days is all. I'm guessing they are very busy as they will be deploying sometime in November, but not hearing always makes me a little anxious. He is supposed to get leave in early Nov. so we are heading east to pick him up do Williamsburg, DC, etc. for 5 days. Just looking to connect with anyone else who's sailor is on the Nicholas. Thanks!

Went to the Navy-Rice football game in Houston yesterday and had a great time. It was fun to watch the band and mascot before the game. It was really fun watching Navy win!!!!

Irene, So happy for you and glad he will be stateside for a while. Yes, GL is terribly cold! When JAM had her pick of where to go she made sure it was not as cold as up there!!

It's been a busy couple of weeks for me....went to GL for A school graduation, Paul came home for a week, left today for Dahlgren, VA for C school. He was very happy to be out of GL before snow starts, and to be moving on to next step. Mom was very happy to have him home for the week.
