A Little Bit About TEXAS

Welcome all Moms who hail from the very proud state of TEXAS!!! Please tell us about where you live in Texas (we all know it is pretty big). Also, give us an idea about what your Sailor is doing and where he/she is (watch for OPSEC issues, though).

Please say a prayer for my husband. He's a firefighter and is fighting the fire near Columbus, Texas. He has been out since Saturday afternoon, only coming home to sleep a couple of hours. Thanks, Cherrry

Ya gotta give it to Congress to make everything complicated.

I wanted to know more about this bill for postage, so I went to http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-707 as I was curious about who pays for this. It's HR 707 and the whole text of the bill is on that site--not a long bill to read. It's actually for one voucher per month that has to be transferred from the soldier/sailor to another person good for one first class letter of no more than 13 oz. or parcel post package no more than 15 pounds. The money comes out of the Secretary of Defense's budget. That sort of concerns me--what program is he going to take away from?

I just got this note: This is for everyone to go sign!! When I did only 33 people from Texas had signed it. It is for us to be able to send things to Iraq and Afghanistan for free. Good Grief - they even need toilet paper sent to them!!
Our prisoners have better facilities than our soldiers. We need to meet their EVERY NEED and some of their WANTS!!

Please go to the website and sign - Click Here - or copy and paste from below.

I just returned to Illinois after a three week trip to visit family in Tucson. While we were there, our son took leave and drove first to Azle, then to Tucson. There's a "friend" in Azle he went to visit. I'm waiting for them to tell me they're more than friends after almost five years! She's a sweet Texas girl. He also adopted TEX from Dallas! I told him I'm buying him a coat, and my sailor made me promise I'd buy a manly coat that wouldn't damage Tex's self-esteem!

WOOHOO! Found a keyboard for $5 that works better than original! Laura, my feelings are with you! It is hard to go thru the transition phase of your Sailor! My son and I didn't have a choice...he was in Hawaii and the finances on both our parts were to where we couldn't see each other. And he is my "Baby"! The hardest part that still haunts me is missing his first deployment and return to home port ceremonies. I have not seen him on holidays for the past 5 yrs. But, and yeah know there is always a BUT...we are closer than ever. You will always be in your Sailors heart, soul and mind....he just has to learn to be apart so that they can cope. Wait until he does come home...there will be times when you can watch him sleep in between partying with his school buds. It's all good though....not just Sailor learns to cope but so does the family. You'll really learn the meaning of quality time. Be stronge ALL NAVY MOMS as we are now really and truly NAVY MOMS! :) Everyone I hope you have a great 4th of July!

Hello Everyone, I am new to this site, as my son is very New to the Navy. He is currently stationed out of Norfolk, Va and is deployed on the USS Bataan. He is a DCFN, and I am totally clueless about anything else so far LOL. I miss him very much, and I only get to hear from him from emails, but he was able to call his Dad for Father's day. I was very happy to see there was a Texas Moms group! I hope to get to know you all, and learn more about knowing what is going on with my son. Thanks.
