Hi jcmom, my son in there.  He thought that they would get to come home for either Christmas or New Years, but it would be a shorter visit than last year.  He thought some might take leave over Thanksgiving too.  It doesn't sound like their underways will start until after the holidays so it should happen, but they never guarantee it.

Last year he didn't even know until December so he bought his ticket way late.  He thought they should know more in the next few weeks here.

I finally got back on here to look for some guidance privately. Any other moms here currently have a sailor on Port Royal? My son has been there for a little while. Says that underways got pushed back and that holiday stand downs for first session are not gauranteed. He was hoping to come home for Christmas but now not looking promising.

Tricia, my son is no longer on the Royal but it was a big adjustment for him when he was. He is actually not even in Hawaii anymore. Good luck to your son in the Royal.

Hi
My son has been with thepeople
Port Royal for 2 months. It'seems his first duty station. He is not liking it. How did any of your sailors adjust this duty station?

Hi Tanya2tone - the address is at the bottom on the Port Royal website:  http://www.port-royal.navy.mil/  I have sent my son a hickory farms gift (free shipping to FPO/AP addresses) for Thanksgiving and packages for his birthday.  It took about three to four weeks, but he got them!  Good luck!

My son has been on the port royal for a couple of months now, and I want to send him a Christmas care package, but I he can't seem to find the address, or he just doesn't have the time to ask what for it.. How do I find out the address?
Thanks!

What does your sailors do? Mine has left Hawaii but I keep up on here.
Good luck to your sailors. One thing if you are on facebook look up the ombudsmen on there for when they go out to deployment. They are great in keeping you updated.

Hi everyone!  My son will be leaving in early March to join Port Royal.  He has been in Pensacola for A School and C School since the beginning of September.  He just arrived home yesterday on leave for two precious weeks before he leaves for Hawaii!  I am looking forward to being part of the Port Royal family!  We are from Connecticut so it's a long way to Hawaii - and am so looking forward to visiting him there!
