oh my goodness...that's my son too nancy!!!!! same here!!! altho....there was one photo from a bowling alley.....my first thought was yeeeesh....you're in spain and your bowling??? then i figured, he's with locals also AND not on his computer!!! patrick said by the time he got ashore he only had a little time in town......don't know if he got on shore more today. glad your son enjoyed his tour!!!

Hey Deb - thanks for posting the pictures, those are great. I hear my son got some of the inside of the gothic cathedral, and he sounded pretty "wowed" by it, he said the pictures don't do it justice. I"m just so tickled that he's actually decided that getting out and seeing the sites and sampling the food is more important than finding an internet cafe for gaming - that's definitely a more mature step for him!

Sptfyre76 I have not gotten a call from my sailor but have been receiving e-mails via my cell phone quiet a bit, works like instant messaging. You know that is something I recently discovered. That I can send e-mails to my sailor from my cell phone and he can send e-mails to my cell phone. It is so cool! Works like a text message and if you have unlimited text messages as I do it doesn't add any more charges to your cell bill.

Hi Ladies ... just a quick check in. I have not heard anything from my daughter. Except that she was very sick for 2 days. She is feeling better now ... good thing, cuz I almost called ! Its that Mom-thing. I needed to know she was ok.
I have already put together a couple of care packages. Going to send one this week, one next week & one the next week. Plus the boyfriend sent one last week. So she will be 'feeling the love' with all the packages arriving in quick fashion.

Lisa - a big congrats to your son! That's a big step to go from being undesignated to getting rated; and that must mean that he also is advanced to Petty Officer - that means he's earned his "crow". Excellent.

Hi Ladies! Just got an email from my son Peter! Woo Hoo! He just got promoted out of the Deck Dept to Gunner's Mate. I'm so happy for him as he begins yet another new chapter aboard the mighty USS Bataan! Blessing to all-Lisa

Deb - I think it would be ok to post pictures, I think if they are ok for your Sailor to send over the Navy network they should be ok to post; and I think we would all enjoy seeing them - especially since some Sailors (like my son) are not likely to send any....lol. I'll start a discussion above for whoever wants to post them.
