For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Good morning, Everybody. So our son arrived on the USS Mustin early July. He is a terrible communicator! So we aren't surprised that we haven't heard from him since the 27th. However, if we ever do need to get a message to him, do we go through the Ombudsman? How often do our sailors get computer time? Should we fly out there and kick his rear end into gear? :-)

He's an FC. Learning his craft right now in SD. Glad to know about orientation and help with transition. How wonderful that you'll get to see your son and a new part of the world! Exciting!

Hi Quiet Mom! Yes, he will have some orientation type classes once he arrives. What is your son's rate? He should also get someone assigned to him to help the transition. We are heading over fairly soon. Our son has been there for 2-1/2 years and we haven't seen him the whole time!

The women get military email as well as the men. ;) Remember that Internet is not always available. This means that no matter what email you send messages to, your sailor will not receive it unless the Internet is on. Depending on their job and rank Internet access may be hard to come by. Even in port, please remember that the sailors have to find a place with Internet to use, and they have limited liberty hours (again rank dependent) that they may not care to use in a Starbucks or Internet cafe.

Get used to fb private messages, etc - wifi can be fairly limited in some of the areas they go. We message some on skype too.

Tamra, yes he will have a military email assigned to him, though I've never gotten my son's! He prefers to use it for work purposes. We still email him on his personal email which he checks fairly frequently so he tells us! (Doesn't always respond!)

Do the boys get assigned a military email? I don't know anything about that and would like more info. Communication with my son has been limited to facebook messages and random calls when he can.

Hello! My son is a GSE on the Mustin. He has been stationed in Japan since September 2014. We miss him so much...no idea when he will get to come home. I don't understand how leave works but so far...not liking it!
