LET'S BRING SOME HOLIDAY CHEER TO THE USS NIMITZ CSG CHRISTMAS 2009

If you would like to participate, please post your name, sailor, ship & their division here.

Below is the link to Molly's group. If you look through the old discussions & comments from November & December 08' you'll see a list of things that some of the mom's sent..Keep in mind, the ship they adopted only had a crew of 250 & we are looking at a crew of more than 6000 plus so some of their ideas will not apply to the Nimitz CSG

I would like to ask you to start thinking of gifts that we could send that the entire division could use such as cookies, games, playing cards, candy, etc. Please post your ideas along with your Sailor's name & info. A Dollar store is a good place to look for inexpensive gifts such as decorations. Once I contact the CMC, I will let you know if they will allow us to send decorations & possibly small Christmas trees. If anyone knows anyone that would be willing to donate any items please let me know. I am going to check with a few of the local dollar stores to see if I could possibly get Christmas stockings at a discount price.

PLEASE NOTE, I am closing this discussion. If you have suggestions or would like to offer to help with our project please post on our group, HELP BRING HOLIDAY CHEER TO THE USS NIMITZ STRIKE GROUP. Thanks.

And in a silly way I am accomplishing my personal goal to adopt everyone in the Navy one day --- If I help others ban together and do this, then I have helped the sailors on the Nimitz. (not that we wont do a carrier one day--- we are well on our way) BUT there is no way yet we could get 5000 right now at MAS. We would be Maxxed out at 1000 sailors.

So im thinking Maggie with her Navy background is going to have insider tips --and it sounds like you all communicate with your sailors regularly. Again with first hand information. Lets use the resorces we do have

Maggie, I think I might have some resources to get some things donated. I know we are shooting for items that are not
so costly. But my sailor goes thru sock, shoe insoles, white undershirts like they are toliet paper. So are these going
to be sent to the whole division or a individual sailor. If group it probably should be more random. Thanks, Sam

I want to help. My son is RX/RM. I was thinking of getting a bunch of those little red Christmas stockings and putting some little snacks and candy in them. Does someone have marching orders for us?

One idea I have is to contact my daughter's elementary school and see if they would like to participate in adopting the USS Nimitz and have each student make a Xmas card and write a nice sweet message thanking our sailors. What do you think. Then I can mail them all in a box. The thing is who do I mail it to. Maybe when they have their xmas celebration they can just have everyone pick one up or something???
