The drive from NavyLodge to RR is pretty much on the same road. Not to far if you drive.Maybe 5 minutes at the most. You should be able to drive to the ship. Well they are pretty much on the berthing barge. Wait til you see how HUGE the ship. Whew!!!!

Kathy how far of a drive to the ship and can we drive to the ship to pick up Colin? Thanks for info about the bowling alley and the burgers and onion rings, will be going there for sure.

LOL.. I meant quality time time with my Sailor Son in the sun. Oh and if anyone golfs. The MWR golf course is right around the bend from the Navylodge. I hope this has helped!!!

I'm not sure about Gateway but I stayed at NavyLodge N. Island at HC. A very nice sailor who's husband is on RR helped get me on base. Navylodge is on the other side of the island from the ship. We cabbed quite a bit but if you have a car it's not bad. I loved the location of the NavyLodge. It is right on the Pacific Ocean. The copters and planes were pretty active but you are on a base. It's not fancy but then again I'm not a fancy kind of person. It was clean and had a kitchenette. My last full day there Corey and I cooked together and ate our lunch out on the balcony. (Very good memory). Next time I will get groceries right away. He really loved having Mom's cooking.
The first night we went to the bowling alley on base. They have very good REAL onion rings and awesome burgers. The NEX area blew my mind. It was like a small mall.
I envy you so much. After the holidays I'll start saving for my next trip. We ended up just staying on the base the whole time but I was fine. I got to spend some quality time with my Sailor Sun.
