If your sailor calls this ship home or will be calling it home in the future - it would be nice to touch base and learn about what to expect while under way. Especially for those of us Moms that are new to having children leave with the fleet

My son is making sure that the people that r doing the work on the ship is actually working when they r suppost 2 b. Not 2 sure of it all, sounds strange 2 me. My son is an Air Traffis Controller so he cant do that job with it docked so I guess they had 2 give him sumthing 2 do....lol

Is it true that the Roosevelt is dry docked right now? For the next few years? That's the rumor here in Great Lakes..

Well, I'm here to say so long, I've not posted much but certainly have enjoyed reading the posts. My son is offically separated from the TR now. He'll be working in PA as a recruter for the next three years and then who knows, he might go back on the TR but he's saying he wants to go to the West coast next or even Japan. Take care and God Bless!!!

Oh my goodness, Kathy I am so sorry to hear such awful news about your husband's passing. My heart aches for you - I have not lost a husband to death and I hope he outlives me - but I know how hard it is to lose someone you love dearly. Each death is hard. Losing a child is hard. Losing your parents, is the passing of a generation. And losing your sweetheart, a husband must be awful. I wish I could say something to make it all better but I know better, having lost my son in 2003 and my folks in 2007 and 2008.

My prayers for your family and for you my dear. Go easy on yourself and I pray that one day, life will seem better to you, than it feels right now.

Hi Everyone! I just thought I would come over for a quick visit to see how everyone is. Patrick is out now as some of you know - he was home for 2 months and I really enjoyed having him home. He left last Monday, for San Mateo, where he was to start college on the following Tuesday.

He is taking Fire Technology. The only problem is, that new GI bill, is paying for his school and books, but since it is so new, no one can tell him when he is to start receiving his basic housing allowance. So he is living in a flea bag motel - paid up till the end of August. He was offered a sofa at my friend's house, but he said he needs to study - and that house is always hopping with activity plus sleeping on a sofa in the living room, with all these people - he really wants his schooling to work.

I miss him. He is lonely. All his friends have already graduated from college and are either married or busy with careers so its not like it was before he went in. But I think that can be a good thing - since he does tend to drink and party a bit too much, or I should say, in the past. He DRIED OUT when he was here because we just wouldn't stand for it.

That day when he left last week, he told me he had second thoughts - about getting out of the navy and entertained the notion of maybe going back in. I don't know - the verdict is out. Jobs are hard to come by and he is definately finding that out.

I know there is life outside the Navy - it just takes a while to find it.

My BEST wishes to you and your sailors.

Hi all, haven't been on for awhile. My son has put in a transfer request to the Truman so I may be leaving this group. It was great knowing all of you. If you want to keep in touch I'm on face book. Take care all.
