Welcome! My son, my sailor, my hero

Latest Activity

Hi Linda, I use the military priority box because it is a fixed discount rate and it gets to the base in 2 days, but still takes a few days for the base to get it to the sailor but I found that to be the fastest.

Whew....(I know the division)...there is no actual address, only a zip code that he gave me. Anyway...thought there would be more to it. I will try to get in contact with him to make sure it is all there. The post office said all ships go first to...

I will ask my son to see what division he is in. He gave me the address I am using...no division listed. Thanks again ladies. I will keep checking on this. (-:

Linda if you put the division on the address it will get to him faster but I found out once the post office gets it to the base it could take a few days to reach the sailor. Hope this helps

Lnn, y son loves it in WA! He is very outdoorsy and loves the camping and skiing. It is just too far away though- I live in WV. Derek had duty today and I am hoping he gets something decent to eat somewhere! Did you guys light a blue candle today?

Profile Information

About me:
Single Mom of 3 from MA. I have 2 daughters (22 and 19) and my son K (20) joined the Navy August 31, 2007 and is now serving on the USS Abraham Lincoln....it hasn't been an easy adjustment but I am extremely proud of my "shining star" and all the young men and women that serve our country...my brother is a Colonel in the USAF and I understand the military life and dedication, but it is different when it is your own son...I can offer alot of support for new Navy Moms living thru Boot Camp and deployment...I remember I cried every day for 4 weeks and lived for the first phone call and the short letters....or and the box of clothes.....more tears.....but the day of graduation was unforgettable and worth every tear I shed. I have lived through and survived my son's first seven month deployment and cried tears of joy at the Homecoming October 12, 2008. It is a journey. Goodbyes aren't goodbyes, but long silent hugs and a quick kiss. I look forward to sharing and making new friends here......:)
I am here to support or represent my:
K
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
How complete strangers will come up to me and ask me questions when I'm wearing my Proud Navy Mom sweatshirt and will tell me to tell my son Thank You for protecting Our Country.........Gosh, that just makes you feel so proud and thankful for having such a great son. The Navy has allowed my son to see the abilities he has and he has become a proud, confident young man.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

Dear Andrea,
How are you doing? I missed hearing from you. How is Caleb doing? The new love of your life! AWWWHH!!! That's so beautiful!

I'm doing well over here. SO hating the temperatures! HAHAH!
How's the temperatures running in my favorite state of Massachuttes?

I swear, I should have been born in Massachuttes, I think that's such a beautiful state!

I just got the Massachuttes vocation book, I love to dream about going! UGH!

I was so hoping to go to Plymouht this weekend. It's my 30 year since Doug and I have met. I planned this since last year.
This year we got screwed with the taxes. Now that I'm on Disibilty, taxes were not taken out, so we had to pay this year.
Oh well, Plymouth will have to go on with out me! HAHA!

Kim called tonight. I was so determine to try to hear her. Her ship finally pulled out for five days and had 4 fires. That's good to hear! HAAH! One fire was electrical, another was oil, but I couldn't understand the other two.

Then I was joking with Kim. I told her that TV show "Ghost Hunters" investigated a few Navy ships, and did find evidence of paranormal activity. This part is true.

I joked that they got a call to go to Norfolk, VA. She asked which ship. I told her, "Yours" the USS Normandy. I'm dying now, trying not to laugh.

Andrea, I did not expect her answer! She told me that there is one ghost. I responded, "WHAT!" SHe told me she hasn't seen it yet, but the Sailors talk about it among themselves. Supposebly, years ago some Sailor hung himself in the engine room! Now, I have to research this out of my own curiousity! HAHA!

I finally did admit to her that I was joking about Ghost Hunters investigating her ship. That was too funny, I didn't espect that answer! HAHA!

Let me get going. Kiss Caleb for me! HAHA! You have a blessed weekend!
Take care and God bless.
Your friend,
Barbara
