Div 233 Ship 09 Wins Captain's Cup!!

Woooo Hooooo,

I just got another phone call home from Andrew! He was soooo pumped up. He said that his division won the Captain's Cup today and they were awarded with Pizza Hut, taco bell and he had just finished playing pool for 3 1/2 hours. He was soooooo excited. He said they won it in the last event which was the fire fighting drill which he was part of. He was over the moon excited. He told me not to worry about battle stations, it will be a breeze for them!! Wow, I cant wait to see him!

It's Official, I now have two children in the U.S. Navy!!

Wow, it is hard to believe but my Step-Daughter who lives with us 100% of the time has decided to join the US Navy. She is currently on her way home from MEPS. She left last night for the ASVAB test etc. She called me about an hour ago and said it is official. She has enlisted into the DEP program and will be completing her Senior year in high school and then shipping out on July 15, 2009!! I could hear the joy and excitment in her voice over the phone. Her job position is hospital corpsman/dent… Continue

Ann, I was so happy to receive a message from you. You girls really kept me going through the whole bc thingy. Therefore, I will never forget you girls. Jason is doing fine. He is stationed in Norfolk, VA on the USS Bataan, soon to deploy in the spring. He disliked being on the ship at first but has adjusted pretty good. Overall he likes being in VA so he can come home on weekends when he doesn't have to work/duty.
Sorry to hear about Andrew. Keep him encouraged. Stay in touch.
Have you heard from Dawn, Sheryl or Wendy?

If I read this correctly your son is with HSC 8 the Eightballers. My son is an AT3 with them . Jake has been with them since 10/06. So we have been thru one 7++ deployment. Jake loves the squadron.

Hi Ann, Wow, that comment of yours could have been written by me to you. Same thing with Jason, he too purchased a used car with a car loan and with the loan, insurance, gas, and his phone, there isn't anything left for Jason. Needless to say that the first few weeks he was stationed in VA he had to pay to stay in a hotel a couple of times a week as it took a lot for Jason to get used to living on the ship which he still has trouble with and he says not many sailors stay on the ship. He is trying to get housing, I pray he gets something as he can't afford to pay for anything and his morale is not what it was in A school or even boot camp. So far he's been in VA for two months and his father has sent him $200 and so have I. We can't afford to continue to do that. Jason works long odd hours right now and can't even get another job if he wanted to because of the odd hours he works. A few days a week he is working 14 hours a day! Also it seems like almost once a month the Navy says they overpaid him then his next paycheck is even less and then he is overdrawn when his bills come in and the amount is automatically withdrawn from his account. This is messing him up. I don't have any answers for him, I feel bad and can it is affecting his morale. I am glad to hear that Andrew is doing well. Jason just needs to adjust and it is taking him some time; he hasn't made any friends in VA, he is rather quiet and keeps to himself although he did have friends in boot camp and A school.

Hi Ann,
How are you doing? How's Andrew? Tommy is still in "A" School in Great Lakes but he should graduate Nov 7th!!
Is your step daughter still planning to join? does she still want to be a Corpsman? I heard that the EMT classes they give at city college's use the same text book that the Navy Corpsman School use's...that might give her a little head start!
Hope all is well with you and your family.... I would love to hear from you!

Good for you Ebony!!! I am a Medical Assistant and ran the back office for 9 years for a pain management doc. I loved it and I miss my patients sooooooo much. I only left the field because I had a baby and my husband is self employed and he really needed me in his office. Gustav, yes!!! Andrew told me that they all had been told to pack their sea bags and be ready to go for up to 2 weeks. Andrew was so happy to get out of Florida before it hit. I will be thinking of Ryan!!!
