arwen,
most recruits are happy to add if they have empty slots. we put names of two others on our list as we only had two coming. If you are in a PIR group you can ask there as well. The two names we put on the list weren't even from my son's divi...
Sean got his application in relatively late. It didn't help that he took his SAT for the first time in October. He will take the ACT in two weeks and hopes an awesome score helps.
Does anything know the status of the murder of that young sailor that happened near Corry Station two weeks ago? I was wondering if they have found her killer yet, or if there are any (public) leads in the case? Are they restricting sailors to bas...

My son entered bootcamp well above the weight but fine with the pinch test/measurment test. He did push ups for every cookie he looked at in bootcamp. :) He droped almost 30 pounds in bootcamp but was still over the height/weight standards. Now fo...
It was, um, two weeks ago, I think? There was a lot of discussion about the case in this group. There was some confusion over which base it happened near. I mapped it on Google Maps and it happened about 10 blocks northeast of Corry Station.
What I mean is that we (the family) draws straws to see which of us gets to be the four on Chris' list. The rest (including the two "maybes") will have to wait and hope Chris can persuade his shipmates to put them in the empty spaces on their lists.
Your Recruit will put down the 4 names of people that will be going into PIR. There is no "drawing straws" to see who gets in. As for if the other recruit's want to put your family's names down that is up to the other recruit's.
Other options: Th...
Black Friday.. you mean National Shopping Day? Yeah, I participated, but made absolutely sure I had no more than $50 with me. We live 100 miles from the nearest mall but we were visiting relatives. So my daughter and I spent the day eating and buy...
Has anyone heard anything about the murder of the young seaman near Corry Station? What is the status of the case? Are they clamping down on off-base activities for Navy personnel in the area?
He's doing great on the educational part. He has passed the Sailor's Creed, ranks and rates, alphabet, core values and a couple of others. The only thing left is Orders to the Sentry and chain of command, which he's working on.
Chris really doesn...
Even if they don't pass the weight limit, for PT they do measurements and base their eligibility on body fat percentage. My husband went into bootcamp well above the weight requirement because they passed him anyway trying to get him into the navy...
How is he doing on his General order? Sailors Creed?
Seems he might want to focus some of that engery into other aspects of what he will need to learn.
Just my 2 cents....

Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Success or failure in the Navy is all about attitude.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
The lessons learned in the Navy could have been learned anywhere.

My son Josh is station at Bremington Dry Dock. He has been in the Navy just a bit over two years. He is on the USS PENN. He is with Fire Control.
I have another son with the USS. ABRAHAM LINCOLN. Both my sons had duty yesterday. They are being invited to another Sailor's house for Thanks Giving.
I miss all of my military children.
I think it is hard being a military mom sometimes.

Michelle, the Admin of our main DEPPERs Group (please join us there) has established Groups for Moms with Recruits leaving during each month of the year. There are links to each in one of our many helpful discussions. We could use an experienced ex Navy Mom like you to be the Admin for the April group if you are interested? No biggie if not, just want you to be able to connect with the others. Thank you-and your family-for your service! I look forward to chatting with you on the WA/ORE AND DEPpers Group (I'm one of the mentors there) and elsewhere on site.God Bless :-)
