Tiger Cruise

Well, the medical dept. on the USS Ronald Reagan has decided that I am not able to go on Tiger Cruise due to my heart issues. My cardiologist signed off saying I was fine to go but that wasn't good enough for them so there will be no carrier ride for me. I'm extremely disappointed but I really don't want my son to get upset about it, he and his chief both went to bat for me but no luck. :(

New career opportunity

My son has been working on his reenlistment for months now. It took awhile but he finally got the approval from his PTS (perform to serve) and got to check what orders were available for him. He turned in his request and I received the news today that he is going to be a legacy hornet (F18 C&D series) AE (aviation electrician) instructor at Commander Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU). It's the school that they go to for all the formal training on the F18 once they finish A scho… Continue

Woo Hoo!

I'm so happy, my son's PTS was approved and he will be reenlisting, continuing as an AE and gets to pick his orders. He'll be taking the 1st class test in September so I'll be incapacitated due to crossed fingers until we hear in November!

Frustrated Sailor and Mom

Frustration abounds! My youngest son was kind of forced out of reenlisting a couple years ago because of the PTS and not being able to find a crossrate available that he was interested in. Now my older son is trying to reenlist and they've put off his PTS for the 4th month in a row and now he's hearing from "above" that his rate is very overstaffed and he may not be able to reup unless he cross rates! ARGH! He's done everything at the top of the list since the asvab, top grad at BC, top sailor i… Continue

Hey... remind me next time we are going to meet to bring along my soup labels... old habits die hard and I still save them. My niece and nephews schools don't save them anymore... so I have about 50 or so...

Hi there, just wanted to say I'd be honored to buy a little Jr. Sailor a Happy Meal (and his Grandparents a cup of cheap McDs coffee) if you guys have time for a hug and quick chat before you head out of or back into town! Would love to introduce our hubbys and get a little one on one. Let me know. :-) Promise, we'll leave all the piggy germs at home. :)
