About me:
I am married to a wonderful man. We just celebrated our 25 anniversary last year. We have two great boys, who we are very proud of.

I am an elementary teacher and currently on my fifth year of teaching kindergarten.

We have two sons in the Navy. Our oldest Bryce, joined in 2006 and is now a Sonar Tech. on the USS Louisiana. He is stationed in Seattle, WA. Since then he has earned his Dolphins and is a Petty Officer 3rd Class.

My youngest son Ryan, joined in 2008. Since then he graduated boot camp on Oct. 17th, graduated A-school 7th in his class as a Hospital Corpsmen on the 20th of Feb. He is now stationed at Camp Lejeune in NC. On May 12th Ryan will be going to FMTB training. He is attached to the 1/6th.

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
That there are a lot of men and women willing to defend our country everyday who deserve our support, respect and love.

On a personal note there are a lot of opportunities for our sons and there is still a lot to learn.

We are so proud of both our sons
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Barbara,

Have you heard from the guys? I thought they would have been home by now but I have not heard anything. I got an email several weeks ago but nothing since then. Last I heard Pete sounded good and I am sure if something bad happened we would hear so it probably some routine thing that is keeping them gone longer.
Hope you are enjoying your summer even though most of it is rain. It seems like summer is going to be over with and we will feel like it was never here.
Best wishes to you and your family.
Take care,
Lynn

Hi Barbara,

Check out Nancy Nickel who just joined N4M. She has a son who is a machinist's mate on the USS Louisiana. I do not know if he is on the Blue or Gold crew. But, she lives in MD so naturally misses her son just as much as the rest of us when he is so far away.
Hope you are doing well.
Take care,
Lynn

Hi Barbara,
My name is Nancy, my son Mike is stationed on the USS Louisiana 743. I enjoyed looking at your pictures, they look so familiar!! We go out to WA everytime the boat comes in for the homecoming. We think this will be the last time as Mike is hoping to be stationed in CT by the end of the year. If you go out let me know and we can get to meet each other in person. Mike is our only son, he is married and has a beautiful daughter and another baby on the way. We are so proud of him! Hope to talk to you soon. Nancy

Hi Barbara,
I guess they are gone again! Pete days this will be a short trip. He is counting on getting his dolphins on this trip. He thinks he will have them in a couple of weeks. He is very excited about that. How much longer before you are out of school for the summer? It sounds like Ryan is doing very well also.
Take care,
Lynn

Barbara: Andrew was in the 2nd Tank Battalion BAS. He checks into Camp Johnson tomorrow. Hope Ryan is one of his buddies. I will check on the name later today.

I have a couple of photos of Ryan, but I'm not sure how to get them to you. If you send me your email address I will send them offline. -Debbie

Hi Barbara,
Corps School graduation was very moving and very personalized. Got lots of pictures, but I have to wait until I get home to upload. I hope you enjoy them. I met your son and he is an exceptional young man too.

Hi Barbara,
How are you doing? Are you having a nice week off? I got a call from Pete and he told me the CNO (Chief of Naval Operations) was there and they received an award for their boat for meritorious service. There are pictures of the event on Navy.mil. I typed CNO Bangor in the search box and got the story and photos. Pete is right up front in a couple of them. Does Bryce have time off soon? I thought they were getting the end of February off. Pete is still busy and he said the change of command ceremony is today so they were practicing for that. He likes the new captain so far and said this is his first time on a boomer. It sounds like all is going well.
Take care, Lynn

Hi Barbara,
Are you getting sick of winter yet? It must be nice for you to have the week off. Our ski passes are no good this week so we stay home more and get a little "cabin fever". Next week is NH school vacation week and we can start skiing again.
I think the boat left recently and Pete seems happy and doing fine. He is now working on all his own personal projects, fixing up a boat and building a dock. I am sure it is a nice break for the guys to still go to work but have week-ends and personal time off. Everyone tells me what a great city Seattle is and how there is so much to do there. I am sure we will get there some day. One of Pete's close friends is getting married in August and Pete is in the wedding so he said he will definitely be home then.
Enjoy your week off. Take care.
Lynn
