As I look back at my N4M, Facebook, USNA, dropshots, plebesummer, and all the other places I have been over the last 3 months, it is hard to believe HOW much has gone on. I spent the better part of this week preparing for JUST the high school presentation of Scott's acceptance to Annapolis today. His dress pants, too short from internships in years past, LONG hours at the Geek Squad before, during and after the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.... had to be replaced 2 days before the event. UGH...Sometimes I forget, even in the proudest moments, that this young man is still a TEENAGER! Heaven help me, and him. I know he goes July 1st to Annapolis, but there are those rare moments where I would like to send him early. I keep trying to remind him that even though he made it to Annapolis, he does not have it ALL figured out. I got it, I got it just doesn't cut it. I think he might have Senior-Annapol-itis....... If so it MUST be God's way of perparing me to let him go. OY!

Oh my, God has a bittersweet sense of humor. I had decided I was not going to cry in church today. Yup.... Made that decision before I went. Yup... sure did. Crazy schedule getting there, and Scott went ahead to save 4 seats so we could all sit together. Turns out... no one, goes to the early service. Be that as it may. 2 rows ahead of us was a kid in his NJROTC jacket from a neighboring school. Was fine until they got to the song "How Great is Our God" . Lost it then... I just added a countdown clock. Scott has a white board in his room, and counts down the days til I day...Feels more like going off the the goolag! It's hard to watch him process this thru the eyes of a 17 yr old. 9 years is a long time to commit to at that age. It is more than 1/2 his life. I keep telling him to break it down.... 6 weeks of plebe summer, than it is COLLEGE with a twist.... After 4 years, you are guaranteed a job for 5. In this economy.. it is a good thing.
