Hi Ladies Walla Walla Dep Mom wants to meet in Tri-cities with you all. Some day maybe we could plan a get together here in my town as well. We have tons of wineries and fun places to eat. My husband is the sales center manager for Coca Cola here...

Tucker experiance in GL was ok---
We got 2 phone calls and about 8 letters, he said he just minded his buisness and it all worked well. He never got in trouble so that was a plus. He did fail Battlestations the first time so had to back to back it--which meant he was 58 hours away straight. BUT he made it to PIR and is a sailor :) For his hard work he was awarded with great orders--he is going to the Admiral of the 7th fleet ship the USS Blueridge stationed in Yokosuka Japan. YES ma'am my son is heading to live in Japan for 4 years ~~ can you believe that ?? What great orders !!! Colton was able to fly in and see his bro PIR ---which was like a dream for me :) And now Colton is home for another week before he heads to Virginia again. The boys are hoping to meet up in a port or in Japan one day :)

Hi! We live in Benton City. My son graduated in 2007 from Ki Be. I teach at Sacajawea Elem. in Richland. Aaron had a tough time in boot camp for the first 3 weeks. He really was homesick! He loves it now though! He is in A school there in Great Lakes for the next few months. It is like a college campus. We got to visit it when we were there for his PIR. I had a hard time during BC! But now he can call and text me every day and that really helps! Aaron was a depper, but he wasn't waiting very long. He got his job a lot earlier than we had anticipated! We had a week to pack him up! But we are glad it happened so quickly!

Yeah here is the deal ~~ you need to come directly to me when you start to read and freak out. LOL LOL LOL
Ok yes some go home for various reasons ---but they always have. Your just paying attention to it. When they get to BC they do major screenings on these guys and some have medical issues that disqual them --- some were not 100% honest during DEP (ie: tickets, DUI, etc etc ) disquals them. Some dont want to be there and they do not want to follow the guidelines --BAM disqualed. Do not worry. Out of the 15 you seen come home 415 stayed.
Now on to jobs and MEPS ---- there is a huge surge in enlisting for the military. Economics drives this ---and so there are not many jobs. IF you have a signed DEP contract it will be honored. What you are seeing is the jobs opening for an earlier departure date and people taking that departure date and changing rates to do that.

Got our PIR date today --- also his address. Oct 9th ---OH and I also talked to my sailor and he said he is coming to PIR with us YIPEEEE I will have 2 sailors with me together (photo op deluxe) LOL LOL Want to write a BC kiddo ?

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that we had a wonderful time in Great Lakes with Aaron's PIR! He is still in GL awaiting his A school there. He is LOVING it! He really struggled when he first got to boot camp, we worried that he wouldn't make it, and now he is so happy! He has his cell phone now and lots of free time to call. He even calls and texts us several times a day! I love it!
I would LOVE any information about a meet and greet in our area! Let me know what you hear! I will be real busy getting ready for my new school year as I am starting a new position as instrucitonal specialist and I have already started inservices etc...so I am not online much. Please keep me posted!

Hey I noticed that your child leaves August 2010....There is a subgroup in DEPPERS for August. Now I know that this is August and most of the folks there are leaveing this month but...You can still join that group...It will be interesting to have someone that is leaving a year from now with the ones that are leaving this month...come see us :)...just look in the Links discussion in the DEPPER group and find August....its not just for those shipping in 2009

Hi Becky, Thanks for inviting me to be your friend!!!! I will be more than happy to answer any questions I can. My son was also in the delayed entry program for about 6 months prior to leaving for boot camp. The waiting for them to go is always difficult but hang in there!!!! It's so tough to see our kids grow up and leave the nest and even tougher when they are going into the military because for us moms it is the unknown zone!!!! Thanks to wonderful sites like this, there is much support and help. Kudos to the moms who started this wonderful forum!!!!

Yes I to support Aaron in his decision to join the Navy.
I'm so proud of him..I cry sometimes just thinking about the day he gets on
the plane or bus and leaves. I know he'll be fine but he's my youngest
and well you know...
But I don't tell Aaron my fears I just tell him how proud I'm of him for making this decision and joining the Navy family I'm very excited for him in this new adventure of his life.. Roxy

Regarding VBSS: When your son reaches his first duty station (ship), make sure he volunteers for VBS. :)
