Hey Beth. I hope Stephen gets cleared Tuesday. The boat is currently out. They have been back and out so often lately that I'm sure the guys feel like Yo Yo's. They got back the 21st of Oct. Went out about 10 days later, came back for a couple of weeks and are back out again. My son has his flight home scheduled for the day they are due to dock in CT. Hopefully they get back in time for him to catch his ride to the airport.
He is so anxious to get home he didn't want to wait until the next morning.

Hi Beth. No I have not joined the boats website. Didn't even know they had one. Any info you can give would be greatly appreciated though.

So Sean didn't have the joy of going out in July huh.

That was my son's first real underway. It was a long 3 months for me also, since I never knew when I might be hearing from him. I got spoiled when he was in school. I would hear from him just about every day, even if it was just a short text messaging session. I miss not just being able to pick up the phone and send a message.

Hi Beth. Just found this site and wanted to get in touch with another mom of a North Carolina soldier. My son is a MM Nuke. New to the sub. Joined it in April, so his first "cruise" was pretty much the one for the commissioning ceremony.

You're lucky you are so close to him. I'm in TX so i've only been able to go see him once so far. He is coming home for Christmas though. I'm just hoping they get back on time otherwise my son will miss his flight. If the can get in early that would be better.

Hi Beth! My son serves on the USS NC-777, too. I noticed on Nancy's page you got a picture off the family website for the 777. Can you send me the address for that. I would love to view it. Thank you!

Goodmorning Beth ! Andrew came home this weekend ! The family was all so excited to see him ........unfortunately the weekend is too short ! When we took him back to Groton last night we passsed Sean's barracks....and of course his 'awesome' car ...lol....Andrew's words......
Perhaps some day we will have the honor of meeting him...
We dont know if they will be getting back in time for Thanksgiving after the next underway, but I am hopeful.
Have a wonderful day!

Most recent update on Sean - good news!!!

Hello everyone! Sorry I have updated sooner - there really wasn't anything to tell and I've been really busy lately. Anyway, Sean had his follow-up doctor visit yesterday. He has been diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis - simply put it's an inflammatory condition of the esophagus. When he eats sometimes he feels as if he is choking because the food gets stuck. Anyway, when they did the endoscope they inflated a balloon to dialate the esophagus. He is now on an inhaler-type medication that he… Continue

Update on Sean (sort of)

First of all, last night when I was trying to reply to all of the great comments I received for my last blog, the electricity went out due to a doozy of a storm that came through the south hills of Pittsburgh. No electricity from 8:30 pm to about 1:30 am. So I would like to give you all my heartfelt thanks. Reading everything made me feel a lot better! Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!!

Sean called me at work today and I was able to really talk to him about what is going on. The kidney stone h… Continue

Need prayers and postive thoughts sent my son's way PLEASE!

Sean called today. Sean doesn't call all that often. It's pretty much "no news is good news". I know he is okay and I'm okay with the not-so-frequent calls. Usually when he calls, he is just catching me up on his life. But today was different. He is not doing so good. He woke up at 3:00 this morning with a terrible pain in his side. It was so bad he had to get one of his friends to drive him to the hospital. After being examined and having a CAT scan, the doctor told him he had a kidney stone. H… Continue

Coming to an end...

Sean's visit is coming to an end all too soon. He is leaving this evening. He has to report in at 0700 tomorrow. I think he had a really nice week, though. He spent time with his dad and his family, as well as his sister, Sarah. My sister & her family came over one evening. He saw quite a few of his friends and even got invited to join some racing group his friends have (he's the only "out-of-towner" member - apparently quite an honor). He met me for lunch one day and some of the people I wo… Continue
