About me:
I'm a very busy church musician (aka choir director, organist, handbell director, piano teacher, voice teacher, etc., etc.) who works in an office full time to support my music habit. My husband (of 22+ years) is also a musician (trumpet, voice & guitar) and is an Air Force veteran. I didn't do college when I was young. I went back when I was almost 40 and in 7 years got my BA in Church Music. Like me, my son didn't decide what he wanted to do until he was older. He joined the Navy when he was 28 (almost 29). That first year, he also married his sweetheart. They're both 31 now, and have twins (a boy and a girl).
I am here to support or represent my:

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
don't expect any plans that the Navy makes to actually happen the date they first say. You must be "flexible" and patient when it comes to making plans with your sailor.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hey Bev, How are you doing? I bet this is an extra busy time for you and your husband with all the special holiday music churches do. What church are you associated with. I still belong to my church which is about 30 miles away. I got a call from Jacob the other day. He will be home Dec.11 and be here till Jan.1. I am so looking forward to seeing him again. My regular e-mail is hayes26@earthlink.net if you want to write back on it. How is your son doing with the commute between Virginia and Florida? Will he and his family get home for Christmas? I sure hope so. I still want to get together sometime. Maybe we can figure out something soon. Just let me know what you have going on. My schedule is flexible so I should be able to work around yours. Just let me know. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care and if I don't hear from you before "Happy Thanksgiving"! Barbara

Hey Bev, My son also has joined the Navy. He just joined in June. Just finished A school. I live in Seagrove and saw that you are from Asheboro. You sound super busy with you music and church but if you would like to get together sometime or just chat online I would like it. Being a Navy Mom is new for me and it would be great to hear from a Mom who has had a few years to understand what is going on. Hope to hear from you. Barbara
