Profile Information

About me:
I am a single mom, my youngest son has just recently joined the Navy and has finished bootcamp. He finished A school in damage control. He says its a firefighter. He has been assigned to the USS Carl Vinson. He left 12/11 for Norfolk VA. Our Navy journey is just beginning................
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
If your son has set his mind set on joining the Navy, and is truly committed to achieving it, you cannot nor should you try to stop him from enlisting. Be proud and keep praying.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

By golly yes he is- he was out too- we(my hubby and I) just got back today visiting him while they had their 2 day liberty- we actually toured his ship- he took us on the flight deck and all over- it is unbelievable- I was so in awe- the ship is going back to Newport News in Aug and we will not be able to tour it while it is there-until Dec- My son is thinking about getting out in Oct- still has not decided-so we thought this may be the last opportunity- had the best time and cried when I left- I miss him so much-but we do see him more than when he was in Yokuska Japan-

Hi, Welcome to Navy for Mom’s. You will find lots of support, advice, information, and friends here!! All you have to do is read, read, read!!

I would like to invite you to join the group of moms from Texas!! We are the largest state group on this site!! (Everything is bigger in Texas - including Navy Moms)!!

Just go to the groups tab and type in Texas in the search box. The icon of the group is the state of Texas, of course!! If you can’t find that, click on my picture to the left and it will take you to my page. You can find the same icon there. Just click on it and you can join us!!

Please leave a short message about where you live and what your sailor is doing. Also, please let us know how you found Navy for Moms.

My sailor son, Derek, is a MA (Master at Arms) - He just returned from three months in Kuwait and on oil platforms in the Persian Gulf. He is now stationed in Virginia.
