I can't tell you how proud I am of Dillon. He is an amazing guy. He has always had a heart the size of Texas. He was one of those kids who wanted to save the world- a person at a time. When he was growing up , his dad and I would be worried about some one he had befriended but, he would always say that we taught him not to be judgmental growing up and we couldn't change our minds now. Interestingly, he always seemed to make an impact on the people around him. He had a unique sense of knowing when someone needed help and knowing who would actually take it. I have told him before jokingly, "ya know Dillon when I grow up i am going to be just like you." I am so proud of his decision to join the Navy even if I did react in the beginning like an overprotective mother. His comment was," so, you want people to send their sons to protect your country , your just not going to willingly send yours!" He was right of course and once I got over the shock of the way our lives were going to change -- I was the proudest i had ever been of him!!! October 18,08 Today was a bad day. I don't know why but i cried all day. I MISS MY SON!!! My little boy either really missed his brother too or thought it would help by playing videos of Dillon ...that did not help!! I was not paying attention at one point and i heard Dillon on the recording say , " MAMA!" it freaked me out and i started crying again. I don't know why some days are just so much better than others but today I would have done anything just to hear his voice or hug him once. I miss his voice, his smell, his lanky walk, and most of all his laugh! I know you all know what i mean , i just thought it would help putting the way i feel in words.

I really like the idea of sending birthday cards to our sailors - they need as much support as we can give them, but we don't want to jeopardize their safety.
Congratulations on raising such a fine young man! Take care.
How's it going...Has Dillon called yet? Hope all is well. Let me hear from you.
