Good Morning Caity,

I hope your day was good. Since you're at work I'm assuming that it may be evening when you read this.

I received my 1st e-mail from Richard today. He says all is well and he's getting to know his job and getting around well on the ship. He didn't have my e-mail address right. He sounded happy and that's what is important.
I'm so glad that Chris is doing well.
So funny how they do finally grow up and do their own chores. Rich used to call me while he was doing laundry when he was in VA.
We're going to send off his 1st package on Monday or Tuesday. I'm hoping that this cold will be gone by then!
Navy for Moms is great. I enjoy hearing about how the young men and women are doing and learning about them and their families. How far are you form Long View. My dil is coming up after Nov 1 and we're going to try to make a trip to Long View to see my daughter and her family. It'd be fun to meet another WA Navy mom.

Our prayers are also with you and your loved ones. Have a wonderful day!

Charla

Hi Caity,

Well, Richard is finally on the Nimitz. Now maybe he can start using the training the Navy gave him. I haven't heard from him since he left Bahrain. I have so many mixed emotions! How I miss him.

What have you heard from Chris? How's he doing? Do you have a Wal-mart near you? They have a hero wall where they'll put photos of your hero up if you take a photo to their photo studio before Veterans Day. I've been told that they also make copies of the photo for you for free! I guess I'll check it out.

Well, take care and keep in touch.

Hey Caity, just tho't I'd let you know that Richard may be on the ship now. Haven't heard from him since early this afternoon. He was just getting ready to leave for the airport.

What do you hear from your son?

Talk to you soon,
Charla

Dear Caity,

I told Richard about you and about your son and he asked me what your son does on the ship. I told him that I didn't know, but he's an officer. He said oh, well, I (he) can't fraternize with him. I told him that was ok, because the parents can fraternize, and we can tell secrets abt the 2 of them w/o them finding out. lol

I enjoy a good road trip. We've made a couple like that. Hard on the sit-down spot, but well worth even the shortest of visits. At least you can take I-5 all most of the way down. We don't catch it until we get to Weed, CA. But it 97 is a beautiful drive, if a bit slower.

A tiger cruise would be fun. I've been on dependents' cruises. They usually lasted abt. 3-6 hours. They were fun.

Thank you, Caity, for your prayers. Prayer sustains us through good times as well as difficult. I'll also keep your family in my prayers.

Have a wonderful evening.
Your Friend,
Charla

Hi Caity - I just wanted to see if you got the info. that I sent you regarding the Christmas bags as I have been having a few computer problems. I sent 3 separate messages, and it looks like they all went thru to you, but I wanted to make sure and to see if you had any other questions that I didn't answer. Thanks!

Dear Caity,

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms.

It is interesting, isn't it, 1st how a ship that big can stay afloat and how our sons and daughters can live on it and not know more than half the population. It's good to meet another Nimitz mom in WA.

Richard is in the Gulf, but not on the ship yet. He's still waiting and not using his skills. I wish that they'd have left him in San Diego with his wife and kids until they needed him, but that's Navy life.

Richard tells me that the Nimitz is going to Washington sometime after deployment. I think it'd be great to be able to go over there. I know the grandkids will enjoy it.

I used to live in Bonnie Lake and have heard of Sequim. I'm not sure if I've been through there or not.

I'll tell Richard about Chris when I talk to him again. He gets on Skypes often.

I look forward to hearing from you again.

Hugs, Charla

Hello there! Welcome to Navy4moms!

My son is not on the Nimitz... I am just writing cards to send to the ship for their Christmas collection... guess that makes me a 'lurker' on their page!

My son is stationed at NAS Whidbey Island! You can believe that I count myself very fortunate to have him close when he is not deployed!

Good Evening! I would be happy to help but am unclear as to how much stuff I should plan on including in each bag. How are you packaging the items for each person? I teach a leadership class at a middle school and am sure I can get my kids to help collect and compile the bags. Just let me know the details and I will get right on it! And thanks for letting me join in the fun!

Caity - I don't know if you read about the Christmas project that we are doing, but the USS Nimitz moms are trying to provide Christmas cards and bags of candy for every sailor on the ship and the accompaning ships, which is 7000+ sailors. Karen and I are doing the Warhawks Squadron, which we just found out has around 275 sailors. Each of us are preparing 100 bags, and 250 cards. Are you interested in preparing the remaining 75 bags? You can fill them with candy, ornaments, toiletries, stationary items, toys, anything you think the guys (or gals) would enjoy. We are both getting donations for the bags from schools, churches, clubs, other family members and friends. You wouldn't need to worry about cards, since we are both including extra ones in our boxes. I have a number for the P.O. to get free boxes and shipping forms and tape from. I'll be glad to give you the info for it. The bags need to be sent no later than Nov. 21st. If you are interested in doing this, please let me know asap and I will give you the remaining info. If not, we will take care of them. You can email me at: tssrr@hotmail.com Thanks
