About me:
I was a happy, excited Mom sending my son off to the Navy. Now I am stressed and depressed. Getting a child back broken is a struggle to say the least.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
My son was medically discharged from the Navy after having completed 6 weeks of bootcamp. He came home broken and depressed. I am now having to pay for a surgery to correct a problem that wasn't there before bootcamp.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
The Navy was not the right path for my loved one/me.

Hello Carolyn. My name is Jim and I try to help Rose to keep an eye on the separations unit. I am so sorry to hear about Josh having to come home now. You had spoken about how he is supposed to see to get around well enough. I know this is going to sound crazy, but have him get an eye patch for the eye that went bac for him. He will loose his depth perception, but at least he will only see one image. I actually had the same problem, but it was beause my blood sugar got too high. I was seeing double. Just had to cover one eye and it was all good. I hope he can get his problem taken care of. Maybe he can try it again with the Navy.

I'm sure Josh will probably write this Sunday. I bet he was sleeping to catch up!! Shelton did not say who the boys were that dropped out. I feel so bad for their families.

Since they can only write on Sunday night until 10:00 the letters will usually arrive on Thursday. I read this on the site and it was true for me. In 29 years my husband has never bothered to get the mail. Today it was on the table when I got in!!!! Ha! He mailed him a letter today and I think he was hoping there would be another and that he would get it before me!

I got my first letter from Shelton today!!! I was so excited and he sounded so good and so very grown up! My sister had just come over when I opened the mail and when I read it to she and my husband they could not believe it was from him. He said they have lost four out of their group so far and it is just training week 1. Have you heard from Josh?

I didn't get to make photos of the swearing in I wanted to but they wouldn't let us. Due to security reasons. I do have 2 pictures of Josh in front of the flags where they did the swear in. They are in my slide show. Josh wouldn't let me go when he swore into Dep but I didn't give him a choice for the last one I just showed up. There were only 3 other families there.

OMG!! Did you take a photo of the swearing in? I'd love to see it if you did. That is great that you could be there. Shelt did not want us to drive up there but rather say good-bye here!

Hi, Carolyn! We are in Columbus. My son is going to be on ADEK and hopefully doing what he wanted and that is working with the catapult and the jets. I believe it is called ABE. He will be in Pensacola for A school which is great as we will be able to drive down......I think it is only about 4 hours from here. What will your son be doing? I am so glad that I have found several Moms whose child left the same day!!

As far as PIR, this week is P Week (Processing Week) then they have the eight weeks of training. I was thinking September 11th since graduation seems to be on Friday or Saturday. I hope your date is correct though as it is a holiday weekend and I can save a vacation day!

Keep in touch!

Robin
