We're headed out from Dallas...best to all!!!
on Thursday
Well, we leave tomorrow morning and will be in Great Lakes tomorrow night. Driving straight up from Dallas. I talked to Amber's Recruiter today. She said that if we haven't received a phone call yet telling us that she's been cycled back, then she...

Owwie! I'd rather have the flu than an ear infection. Poor Kiddo! I'm glad he's doing better! And I think it would be a common thing, too...kind of like why your kids stay healthy all through the summer, then the moment school starts, they all sta...

Luckily, Amber hasn't gotten SICK yet...strained muscles, allergic reactions, and immunity to Vicodin when her tooth was pulled...but not sick. I'm so so so glad that your son is doing better. I can't WAIT for graduation...

Yeah, they put Amber as the "Damage Control PO"...if someone breaks something...they have to go and explain it to her. She says that she has mastered the "Mom Look" that I can give that makes even her 6' 2" 25 year old brother quake in his shoes. ...

Amber has been beset mainly by strained muscles, allergic reaction to getting all the vaccines all at once, and an immunity to Vicodin that affects most redheads. (She had a tooth pulled and they gave her Vicodin...didn't work.) Other than that, ...

Soon...Very Soon...

Amber was able to call us today for about 5 minutes. Got to talk to my Bunny.
She's almost done...13 days. She's SO looking forward to seeing us on the 20th.
I get a letter from her every 4 or 5 days now. She's now getting a letter from me just about every day.
All she has to do is pass her final PFA and the rest is as good as done.

She has demanded that her Daddy bring her one of his fresh pumpkin pies! *laughs*

The only thing she's worried about right now is that a lot of people in her Unit… Continue

LETTERS!!!

I got letters from my Bunny today!!!

I feel so much better now that I've read these...over and over and over again...and it gives me hope that she's received my letters to her, too.

She told me what she wants for Christmas: Home Cooked Meal...mashed potatos, pumpkin pie, and ACTUAL REAL meat...(Girl is Texas born and bred...srsly!) and anything with Mint Chocolate.

She's doing much better. Had an allergic reaction to one of the vaccines and was on light duty for a few days, but she's doing be… Continue

Finally....

Would have written this sooner, but life's been hectic...

FINALLY, after 3 weeks, we got a call from Amber on Saturday (10/10).

She was in tears. She asked me why we hadn't written her. Other people in her Division had already gotten letters from home, why hadn't she? It broke my heart.

I told her "Bunny, I've been writing you every single day. Every day, a letter goes in the mail...I promise you. I promised I would write every day and I am."

She asked me if I would be disappointed if she ca… Continue

Hi,
I tried to start a group discussion for SHIP14 DIV394 mom's back on Sep 29 but only one mom joined. So I'm tryiing to link to other groups and I saw Texas Mom's have some sailors in my son's division 394. We're from Michigan and PIR is 13Nov09 so I went to that group - where it says "all divisions". Anyway to link up under a group called SHIP 14 DIV 394 so there is less scrolling to find comments related to my son's division. I've received 5 letters so far, missed the phone call, and would love to share.

Hi Cat,
My daughter left 8/25...and I can say in some ways it does get easier...but I still miss her everyday...Just FYI...I sent Caty (my daughter) a questionnaire that was full of multiple choice questions...that way she could just circle the right answer, add a few lines, and I was able to know what she was doing...I send one every 10 days or so and she actually mails them back...in the self address stamped envelope I included! I would be happy to send you a copy of the three that I have as well as the ones I found on this website...just send me your email address.
And yes...it is hard to watch them leave but I just keep reminding myself...I raised a beautiful, self reliant, independent and productive woman...and that is what I wanted to do. So I cry and then I smile...because she is successful!
Take care and God Bless
Beth

Hi Cat, I will be in your shoes in January. My step daughter leaves then for BC. I can't even think how it is going to hurt to see her walk away. Not knowing if she is going to be ok and if she will be happy. But, like you I know this is a good path for her. She will have so many more chances in the Navy. But, the letting go is going to be hard. The waiting is not going to be good either. I'm not a very good person on waiting for stuff. Waiting for her first letter or phone call will feel like forever to me. You hang in there, alot of ladies on here to help you with stuff. Welcome aboard and everything will work out ok for your daughter. Drop me a line if you need to talk or just need to vent. your friend Pam (Alexis step-mom)

Goodness gracious girl - I do NOT envy you dealing with those pleats...did it once and said "NEVER AGAIN!!!" Lol - things are ok down here - just missing Danny something fierce...especially since his 23rd birthday was yesterday - it just makes it worse, and now we're facing the holidays. Thanks to N4M I will survive this too!!! :-) Don't be a stranger girl - love talking to you!!! Have a super day today!

Hi Cat.
Just checking to see how you and your family are doing? I tried to find pictures of Librado's "Lee's" tattoos but they are all in my laptop that crashed in August. Hopefully when Lee is home on leave in Dec. he can fix it.
I received an e-mail from him this morning from somewhere under the sea and they are doing great. I hope your kids enjoy the Navy as much as he is.
Hey what year did your husband graduate from Turner?
Hope are all doing well. Have a great day.

oh, here's what we did. Before the both of them leave, make one day or one night just for you and him and then one for you and her and make it a dinner/movie night. We did that and its something I'll never regret.

No problem, she also likes to dress up and go to Renaissance festivals. I just like the jousts cuz of the horses. I raise registered Appaloosas. How am I holding Up? Hmmm.. I have my good days, is that a good answer? Last August, he said he was cancelling his college classes and becoming a depper. When I found out what that was I was hysterical for months. Our best friends met in the Navy, my brother, Uncle and two cousins were in the Navy and my two nephews from NRH are in the Army. Dad was Air Force. I was being selfish because he was supposed to stay home with me for another 6 years to go to SFA to be a bio-chemist. Life is funny. (Not ha ha)
