- When I heard “Navy,” I:
- Was concerned or afraid
- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- Being in the military requires the person to be adaptable. There is a lot of conflicting information circulating, and no one knows what will happen until it actually happens. At this point I wish my son was out of the military, but I won't know if this is a positive experience or not until I look back in time.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- The Navy was not the right path for my loved one/me.

Having a hard time...
My son is a Navy Hospitalman (corpsman) who's assigned to the 7th Marines Div. He was deployed to Iraq 2 weeks ago, and I'm having a really hard time with it. Is there anyone else out there whose son is doing this also? This isn't at all what I expected or wanted when he enlisted 1 1/2 yrs ago. I feel really alone in this. My family and friends are really sympathetic and supportive, but they can't know what this is like for a mother... I was raised as a "Navy brat", so I'm not unfamiliar with mi… Continue
