I am the mother of 5 grown children, ages 36,28,23,22 and 19. My oldest son was a Navy man for 8 years and now my youngest, age 19, has joined.

Was concerned or afraid, Was proud, Said “No way!”

Cheryl~ How are you hun? How was the birthday party? How is the family? Andrew told me today when I asked if he has seen Sam he said that they hang out all the time together and he spent a good part of the day today with him. I am so glad they have one another too!

Hi Ann, thanks for taking care of my boy, I know he enjoyed himself and we are very proud of him. He called last night to tell us they were leaving for Florida. It appears that he and Andrew are in the same school and he was happy that he would have a buddy to go with. My older son lived in Pensacola for several years when he was in the Navy but I'm not sure that Sam remembers our trips there. Anyway, I know they'll have fun and we're hoping to be able to make a trip to see him soon.

Cheryl~ I just wanted to tell you how wonderful Sam is. He spent Saturday with us. We went out for breakfast, then six flags and finally a steak dinner for them at the outback steak house. I appologize for not getting any photos :0( We were so occupied chatting that I forgot. Sam is such a wonderful young man and you have alot to be proud of in him! My parents even loved him ;0) We had a really good time. Andrew called me tonight. Did you hear from Sam too? Andrew said Sam is going to be on the same plane with him tomorrow morning for Florida. He said they have to be ready to go at 4am and their flight leaves at 9am. I hope you are doing well!!

I forgot to answer your question, I am not sure if it is considered his *orders* or not but Andrew said he is leaving by Wednesday for Pensacola, Fl and will be in A-school for 7 weeks so by the sounds of it, he has gotten orders of some sort.

Cheryl~ Oh hun, this has got to be so hard on you not being able to see him at PIR. If you are going to be around a computer at somepoint over the weekend, I can upload pictures from my camera to my laptop and email them to you. Send me your email in a message on here and I will put it into my contacts. Steak on Friday afternoon is in order and dont worry, we will have plenty of cell phones with us for him to call you and the family.

Hi Cheryl,
Just wanted to say thanks again for the extra seats. My kids are so excited.
I talked to Dave saturday he was so excited about winning the captains cup, getting to have pizza, extra phone time and he even got on the computer. I am counting down the days, we leave wednesday morning, hope the weather is good.

Hi Cheryl~ Just thought I would stop in and see how you were doing? Andrew called and sounded so excited yesterday about their division winning the Captain's Cup. He also told me that he and Sam had discussed what they were wanting to eat at their 1st real meal outside of RTC on Friday and they both agreed a nice steak would suffice. My husband found a steakhouse in downtown Chicago that we are going to go to. I will be sure to take pics for ya! Hope this message finds you doing well.

Cheryl~ Andrew is doing great although he told me he had a rough day on Friday. He said he and about 4 other guys were just totally ready to be done with the whole thing! He said they can see the metra train station from where they are and it looked so inviting to just leave. I think as he gets closer he is getting more eager to be done with it all. He said his div is doing great though and that next week they are doing firefighting (again) all week and on Mon or Tue they have the gas chamber. His knee is holding up thank goodness. He says it is still sore from time to time but he has been able to maintain his line-leader position so I am excited about that. Andrew doesn't know yet that his GF is going to be coming so once he finds that out, I am sure he is gonna be all pumped up and excited. I just cant wait to see them all!! I got the cutest dress in Vegas for graduation. It is white with red anchor's on it and is just addorable. I also found a short outfit for my 2 yr old (Andrew's 1/2 brother) that is a little navy uniform. It is so cute. Anyway, I am out the door. I have my Cousin's college grad party today followed by a suprise 40th for my best friend. Have a great Father's Day with your family.

Cheryl~ Hi hun, how are you? I am just back from Las Vegas and got a call today from Andrew!!! Did you hear from Sam again?? Andrew said that he told Sam about hanging out with us and he has decided to :0) I will take some pictures for you. On Saturday we are planning on going to six flags and then on Sunday I think we will go to the Navy Pier and to the mall. Of course we will have lots of fun meals out too :0)

Did Tommy already fill up his list of names for PIR? I can't remember. I know I told you I didn't need any other tickets BUT Andrew's girlfriend just found out that her parents bought her a ticket to go to Chicago. If Sam has room, could he add her? If not, no big deal. I have read on here that they dont turn anyone away so I am not to worried about it. Hope you are doing well.
