I agree. But for many years our country has had an epidemic outbreak of 'strong child--weak parent syndrom' run rampant. I am from a career military family. Grand-parents, uncles, dad, brothers, husband and myself. Now my son. The military has als...

Usually it stands for Navy Support Facility, as in a base. So I dont know what your son was meaning here.

So the 16 sailors were drinking when they did this ? Where do the guns come in ? Did they threaten someone at gun point ? And for the record, at any NCO club stateside, they dont have be to 21 either. My little brother was served at 19, showing ID...

Dear Cheryl, For being "web site challenged" your page looks pretty good :) I love your pics - especially the one of Noa'h in his whites with his "BCG"s on [birth control glasses]. That's what Steven told me they called the Navy issued glasses. I thought that was great because even the girls' get the same sort - hee hee. He also told me that in boot camp they were kept so busy (and tired out) that they didn't even have the desire to look at the girls. In Charleston, he says that the ratio is 33:1 boys to girls and again they are so busy with studies and such there's just no time for a relationship. He did meet a couple of girls who are not in the military while he was in DC but they were only there a few days so they were just aquaintances. Suits me if he waits - easier to move around without excess baggage - you know what I mean? Anyway, this was my first web-site to join too. It really has helped my computer skills. I'm also becoming more saavy and comfortable about what to post and what to keep private. With over 11,000 members, posting anything is like meeting in the park. If you don't want everyone in town to know your business, keep it to yourself or send a private message. I'm understanding more and more why myspace, facebook, etc are called "communities" - they really are. Hope all is well in your corner of the world.
Hugs from Houston,
Cindy

YES!! :) He had a great time. He was very sweet to call me every chance he got so I could experience as much of it as possible with him. He is a really great guy!

Cheryl, My son Chris is also on a mineship but he is on the USS Ardent. When did your son go over to Bahrain?

No Cheryl, my son has said nothing to me. He is now back in the States so as soon as he calls me today, I will ask him. I do not know Blake's mom so I guess I do not know where she is listed. If my son knows anything and can tell me, I will let you know.

Hi Cheryl:

Thanks for the info.... Zak calls me about every 2 weeks... so I don't get much info from him..... He is pretty closed mouth and doesn't say much about anything that is happening over there..... I don't know if he doesn't know or if he just doesn't talk about it...... I don't ask.... and the fact that he usually calls when I am in deep sleep... lol

Talk to you soon.....

Hi Cheryl:

Zak is supposed to come home late March and his home port is Ingleside, TX (for the moment). He graduated from A-School in late August moved back to Texas (only 2 hrs from home - we were elated) but was only there 6 days when they told him that he was shipping out for Bahrain. Quite a shock... we thought we would have him close for a couple of months before he had to leave. He seems to think that he will only be in Ingleside for a couple of weeks and then he will get on a ship in Ingleside and sail it around to San Diego. He will then be stationed in San Diego, but he thinks he won't be there very long either before they ship him out again. He is an electricians mate/fireman..... He has been almost a year and has only been home once... We (and his new wife) really miss him... Thanks for getting in touch with me.... I was beginning to think he was the only sailor on the USS Scout... lol

I don't know what ship he is on. I will have to ask him. He just said it was an old war ship. He is an MA and her provides protection for ships carring cargo for the Navy. That is the best I can sum it up.
His unit consist of the same team he did all his training with. They have been together since they got out of bootcamp.
Did you get the VCR situation taken care of?

Profile Information

About me:
My son is a third generation military man, and proudly enlisted after getting his bachelor degree.
He is currently on his second deployment. I have 4 older sons, so as my 'baby' it's hard to have him sooooooo far away.
I am here to support or represent my:
Noah
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To make the most of every minute he is on leave because taking him to the airport for deployment, is nothing like taking him to the airport to go back to college !!!!!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

VCR player

Help, Help, Help.
I made a family movie with the cam-corder then transfered that to a video tape. I really thought that certainly Noah could find a player left over from training videos, somewhere in Bahrain.
Problem is that he cant. So there he sits with his 'Christmas Gift' in his hands, and no way to view what is on this tape.
Can anyone help me, please ? If you talk to your sailor, please ask if their ship has a player, or if they know of one. I am desperate. Thanks Cheryl

Song lyrics from my heart to Noah's

It's only for a moment you are mine to hold
The plans that heaven has for you
Will all too soon unfold
So many different prayers I'll pray
For all that you might do
But most of all I'll want to know
You're walking in the truth
And If I never told you
I want you to know
As I watch you grow

Chorus:
I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things
I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And hel… Continue

web site impared

Can anyone share with me how to get the most out of this site. I have never joined a web-site before, so I dont know how to interact or even find blogs, or group discussions in the Bahrain moms group. I get messages in my personal e-mail that tells me that this person or that person has posted a message on the Bahrain moms site. But I have no idea how to see, read, or respond to those messages. I really need help...
