Profile Information

About me:
I am a school secretary and spend a lot of my spare time volunteering with our middle and high school church youth groups, fundraising for mission trips. I got to go on my first mission trip to Mexico in June 2009 and it was an amazing and uplifting adventure with 10 high schoolers and young adults. God is so good and we all learned so much. My husband and I have two sons, Dave 30 and Mike 19. Mike is a NUKE. He is currently stationed in Corvallis, Oregon. He was picked up for the STA-21 program and so will be starting his Nuclear Engineering degree at the end of June. I am so proud of him and excited to see where this new journey will take him.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To stand back and let him follow his heart, listen to him and offer support and encouragement. Also I am learning that that Mike is much better at adapting to and enjoying the fact that in the Navy you never really know what will happen until it happens. Lots of maybes out there and I now have confidence in my son to know that he knows what he is doing and has become an amazing young man capable of doing extraordinary things. He truly relies on what the Lord is leading him to do and has develop a strong sense of responsibility, confidence and compassion that makes me very proud to be his mom.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Please help us get the word out about the Colorado Love Box Party.

The November 7th Love Box party is just around the corner and we need all the help we can get to stuff up some Christmas Stockings. We have Avon items, CD's, Starbucks coffee, and some other goodies, but we need lots more Stockings (12" ones per Miss Tammie) and toys and other goodies to fill them with. I know we have cards and letters coming but more is always better. Please pop out to the event page and RSVP so we… Continue

My son is at home waiting to go to Basic Training.   He enlisted in Feb and the earliest he could get in was October 24.  So it's been a long wait.  He was at UCONN as a sophomore, so that filled some of this time, but I think he's having a long summer waiting for October, especially now that all his friends are back at school.  He is staying busy at church and working a few hours a week, but other than that, he just hangs out at home.  Starting tomorrow, the next month or so we are keeping him busy with a camping trip, a trip to see the NY Yankees play in Baltimore and then a trip to my parents home where we'll do some fishing a stuff.

Thanks for writing back.

Hi Chris! I live in Highlands Ranch. My son's PIR is 10/14 and then he goes to Nuke school in Charleston. I am very disappointed that I won't be able to go to the coffee on the 17th but hopefully I'll get to go to the next one if it's not our PIR date.

Chris thanks so much!  I am trying to get a card making class together in my guild for the kids.  I imagine they will be generic cards but do you have any requests?  So far there has been no response but I am going to keep plugging away.  I am trying to send out 75 letters to Douglas Co. Schools to get the info out there.

Thanks PJ
