I personally think you should try another recruiter. This one does not sound like he is out for anything but his bonus. His contract will be what he will have to do...that's the long and the short of it. There are no changes...that's exactly what was said to my son when he said he planned on changing it the week he started his A School. So keep me posted. Good Luck.

Make sure that your son knows that...whatever his Contract says...that he signs...is what he will be stuck with, unless he "flunks" out of it. There is no changing! If you question some of the things going on with the recruiter, see if there is another one near you. Go in and ask some questions. Or I believe that you can call an ombudsman at GL and ask some questions. But my son had a contract for EOD. He didn't make it and had to get another contract...and when he was in his first week of his new contract, he learned that NO, you will fullfill your contract you signed...no changes. If the recruiter says otherwise, tell him that he must be misinformed, because now they don't allow changes. Good luck. Any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Yes we could use all the help we can get ---and the sailors ADORE letters from the kids. They adore all letters :) Did you go to the group Mollys Adopt A Sailor ---thats where we pass ideas and work on the troops we support.
We do another group each month so we are about to start Oct group :) We are waiting for the Mom of the Month to announce who/wher and how many we have :) Yeah ---thanks for helping.

Chris, hi, I'm hear to tell you what you want to hear...about your son and EOD. My son was 31 last Dec when he signed up for EOD. He was in tremendous shape from being a police officer. He had no problems in boot camp and then he had 2 weeks of Pre-EOD where they do testing to make sure you have a chance of making it and that they are not wasting their time on you. My son worked with a group run by retired SEALS that made sure that recruits were fit to pass PT requirements. My son was good enough to pass at that time. But at the final testing, he couldn't hold his breath underwater the length of the pool and they dropped him from EOD. He was devastated! Especially when he found out that he had had pneumonia since the last week of BC, four days after being dropped. They didn't roll him back and if he wants to try again in a year he can...but he doesn't get his bonus then. It sucked...this happened to 12 special ops people that week. Anyway, encourage your son...but please tell him this, that if he gets dropped, don't just sign for anything. That is what they will try to do, they only give a few options at the time, that are "open". They try to have him sign right then...my son told them that he had to think about it and they weren't happy, but he got an additional day to work on it. Also, don't let anyone tell him that "oh, you can change your C school once you get into A School, blah, blah" as whatever is on his new contract he will sign...is what he will be required to do. There is NO changing. Also, if he is receiving any other bonus ie..education bonus..make sure it states on the contract when he receives it. Sometimes it gets "forgotten" to be put on. Just so your son knows the above, I will rest easier. My son called his recruiter and talked over his choices for a new contract. Anyway, take a deep breath as he isn't in EOD yet...and once I realized everything he would be doing, I knew it was my son and I was proud instead of scared. Any other questions, you know where to fine me.
