He will be driving home for the Thanksgiving break and flying home for Christmas break. I can't wait to see him and display that free military banner! Life is good!!!! How is Sean doing?

Cindy Lou- yes, Jared went to downtown, Charleston on Halloween night with his buddies. Sorry Sean had to do watch! That stinks! I only spoke to Jared briefly this morning so I'm not sure if he dressed up or what. But, he had fun. I can't wait to see him again. I might have a party for him in the tiki hut. He has never seen it yet (just pics) and he is looking forward to hanging out there. He told me that we will hang out there together and he will tell me about all the BC stories I missed out on hearing since he was grad n go. Can't wait....although I think he'll be out with his friends more than at home. LOL Either way, I'll just be so thankful to see him and have him home (in his comfy bed that he has missed). Life is good! : )

Hi Cindy Lou! Problem solved....Jared just called me and he has a friend there that is letting him borrow his car to drive home for Thanksgiving break! This firend is driving home to N.. with a friend of his so he doesn't need his car and offered it to Jared. Wasn't that nice of him? Jared will be on t-track then, so he doesn't even know who his Chief will be, so he has to wait til graduation to find out who he is and then he will put in his CHIT. IF he doesn't have watch on that Wednesday, he might be able to drive home then and get the most out of his stay. He'd have to head back on Sunday for the 8 hour drive....but still it would be so worth the trip instead of him sitting on base doing nothing. He'll be here for the full Thur., Fri., and Saturday. Even if he heads back at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday-he'd be back on base around 6:30 or so. So- problem solved and we are all happy!!! Thanks for your kind words!!! For Christmas, he will be flying home. We'll have to go ahead and book his flight in the next week or two so that we don't get ridiculous rates. Life is good!

Hey Cindy Lou! I'm bummed.....the price of airfare is CRAZY ridiculous (like starting at $500 round trip) and even then, it is for 6:30 a.m. to leave each way.
It doesn't look like Jared will be coming home for Thanksgiving. He hasn't been home for 7 months. When his class graduates from A School- they don't get the 10 day leave b/c it is too close to Christmas break....but the class that graduates right before his does get to come home. : ( It just doesn't make sense to spend like $600 or so to come home for 3 days. Is Sean coming home? Jared just found out like a week ago that everyone gets the 4 day leave. So, now the prices are just crazy. I told him that he would have had to head back to base on Nov. 29th and his Christmas break leave starts 2 and a half weeks after that time, so just hang in there and go ahead and book his flight home for that time period so that the rates don't get too high to afford. I wish they offered a military discount to these sailors. He knows this one guy that has a car and he has driven home to Orlando (an hour from us) so I told him to ask if he is coming home for Thanksgiving and to see if he could ride with him and help pay for gas, drive or whatever. Then, we could drive to Orlando and pick him up and return him when that guy is going to head back to SC. It is depressing. You know how guys aren't like girls....they rarely reach out and ask for assistance. If I had a girl, she would have already been "on that" idea. If not, I'll see him in December so it isn't the end of the world.

Cindy, all sailors that are in the first 2 divisions of the PIR (numerical order) are grad n go. I do think it is so that they can make room for new recruits. I responded again to Jaye Lynn.

Hi Cindy, Lucas left yesterday afternoon. I felt like he was leaving for BC all over again. The house seemed so empty and sad. He did say that unless something unforeseen happens they get to come home for the holidays but I'm not going to count on it until we get closer. Glad we had this time with our sailors. Congratulations to you and Sean again. Hope your day today isn't too sad. Lorraine

Hey Cindy Lou! Yes, we have a tiki hut by our pool. My husband built it this past summer. He did everything except for the thatch roof. We had a local company come and do that part. I'll have to see if he can load a pic of it on my page. : ) I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as you see Sean off at the airport.

Thanks for the congratulations, Cindy! Congratulations to Sean also!!!!!
We certainly have a lot to be proud of. Enjoy your visit with Sean. It's going to be much too short, I know. I kept hugging Lucas all evening on Saturday when he finally arrived.
