It will be one of the best and proudest moments of your life!!! When you see your sailor on the floor after they call "Liberty" and you give him that first hug, you will probably cry. I know I did. Graduation is AMAZING! Enjoy it!!!

Hi Dana! Yes, come on as often as you can. We find compfort in talking with each other, updating each other on what we and our sailor's are doing, and comparing notes. I agree....the "budgeting" thing is difficult for most (my son included). The t...

Hi Joanne- they had a small ceremony at his school in SC, but we didn't go. When he graduates from Power School (the 2nd school- 6 months long), we will most likely make the trip for that as it is supposed to be really nice. How is Jas doing?

I'm not sure if there is actually a regulation size of envelope or not. I have always heard to send basic white standard (or business size envelopes as to not draw attention to your recruit (and of course no stickers or musical cards). It might al...

Okay - so I added a little more personal stuff from me. At least the one backed down and the other has not come on and others have come forth to give their support.

Hi ma' friend. How are you, Cindy Lou? Just wanted to say happy veteran's day, and also (not sure of Jared is home or if he's waiting until Christmas break to visit) wanted to wish Jared a very, very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hope you're doing well. I haven't visited the PIR group site in a while so will check-in and see how everyone's doing. My hubby and I have offered to host a meet and greet for East Bay (northern california navymoms), probably in January??? Hope you enjoy your day. Love ya. ~ Cindy Lou :-)

Thanks for accepting my request. I am seeking comfort in strangers as sometimes family tells you what you want to hear. My son's original plans were to go with the Coast Guard. He made it in but the only job option was OS and he is not interested in that particular job. His second choice was the Navy which was my first choice. I have a sister that works for the Dept of Navy and really feels that my son is more suited for the Navy. She introduced him to a friend/co-worker of hers that is Ret Marines so that he could mentor my son through this process. It just seems that we hit a bump in the road and nothing seem to be happening. I went with him last week and met with the recruiter who basically told my son that it was his call. He is just not doing anything about it. So, what we did was my husband told him that if he was not enlisting that was fine but that he would have to start making payments on a truck that we bought him this past summer. We bought it with the understanding that he was going to be enlisting and whenever he got settled that he could buy it or we would sell it. That way I felt that we were saying that it was fine if he didn't want to enlist but it was time to grow up and find his place in life. He is spoiled as I know many kids are these days. He was raised in a split family and has always had an out for anything he didn't want to do. I had a long talk with him today and he said that he was meeting again with the recruiter on Tuesday at 4:00 and hopefully will pick out a job. Say a prayer for us please! Thanks again for your time and kindness. One of these days I hope to be in the position to help someone that is going through the same with their child. I really enjoyed looking at your pictures. Maybe I will be posting some soon!

I cannot wait to see him again! 7 weeks is so long! :) So your son likes it I'm sure, and sounds like it is very tough school wise! I am so excited to start our Navy Lives! Looking forward to talking with you soon!

Hmmm.. ok.. i'll take a chance - lol. I wouldn't say or do anything goofy, well maybe a little.. but i will definitely make sure the envelope is addressed properly. No one likes to be humiliated - :)

yes i could - that was what i was hoping was that if i drove it all the way there, that he might have a little time to spend with me so i didn't have to turn around the same day and drive another 21 hours home - lol. Like i said if i had a few hours, it would make my day!
