Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii

It's actually a Marine base but my son is in the Navy and is stationed along with a lot of others that make up Navy forces. And I would love to hear information from others about the area, or others that have family or friends stationed there.See More

Hi Coleen,

I understand... I hope to retire in about 2-3 years from the post-secondary school system. I run our Student Records, Accounts Recievable and Bookstore departments.... opps I am those departments. We have grown from 250 to 560 students since I have worked here and my duties have out grown one person.... but no funding to hire additional staff!... I am SO ready to kick my feet back and play RADIO... go visit the grandchildren when I want to... or do nothing! I haven't seen Jeff & Liam in over a year... our schedules just keep getting in the way. Thanks for the shout. 73 Karen

Hi Coleen,
my name is Nancy Day and just by chance I thought i would do a search on members and low and behold, when i put in the hometown of Oxford, well there u be! My son, Jeff is stationed at the Naval Hospital, Guam. He is a corpman/pharmacy tech. He just made PO3. So he is excited, but it bums that the pay raise wont' come for 5 months or so. He has been in Guam for a little over a yr. He likes it fairly well, the weather can't be beat he said. He is coming home on June 28th for about a 10 day leave...wahooh!!! We talk to him every weekend and do emails, but it is nothing like seeing him in person & giving him that great big hug and kiss, as i am sure u well know. How long has yur son been in the Navy? I am a second time around navy mom. One of my eldest, he is a twin, was in the navy for 6 years, fire controlman. He has been out for about 5 now. He was stationed in Hawaii, so that was way cool for him. We even got to make a visit with him once. Lets just say it was very very nice! He was stationed on the USS Hopper, so he did some deployments. He often teases his brother that he is not a true "seabe" for he isn't assigned to a ship. haha. I am just very thankful that Jeff isn't in Iraq with the marines what with him being a medic and all. He is fine where he is. Jeff after he graduated Talawanda, went to school for emt, but found it so discouraging after because he couldn't even volunteer with any firehouse! he was really bummed out. He initially tried air force but they couldn't secure him in as a corpman, so he switched over to navy. He wanted to stay in the medical field. And with the navy, what they promised, they delivered. I know it has always been said that the navy has the best schools to offer. The job u school for ,is the job u will have. I have a nephew whose daughter joined the marines and trained for a legal assistant, well lets just say she is being shuffled around at other jobs. she is none to happy to say the least.
Question, did we perchance pass each other at the postoffice once? I had a large package and someone noticed it was going to navy hospital guam and she commented her son was in Guam as well.
Anyway just thought i would stop by and say hello. soo... Hello :) Have a great week!

I understand the BUSY at work. I work at a post-secondary school and we started a new term yesterday. Between work and grandkids, radio has taken the back burner. Hope to hear you on the air sometime.

hi,
I live in North Ridgeville Ohio. My daughter has been in bootcamp in Great Lakes for 3 weeks now. We got our first long letter the ohter night. Instant tears, my husband had to read the whole thing to me! She is doing amazing. I am not surprised, her dad was in the navy as well. Glad to see other moms on the site from Ohio. I just joined this site and have learned so much. I am on this site every night.
