Hi DW - Thanks for your message on my page about your son and A School for master-at-arms. I didn't know they could go for training just for that position. This is very interesting. Since my son was made recruit master-at-arms, I've been wondering if he would develop an interest in changing his vocation. He planned to go to A School for medic training - to be a hospital corpsman. He wants to be a field medic - which means he'd also get weapons training with the Marines. But I know things could change as he has a chance to really get into it - and as the Navy has more time to see his strengths and interests.

It was great to hear from you!

When I talked to Katie, she had told me she had lost 14 lbs. in the first 2 weeks she had been there, so I told her I would have to bring her some of my clothes since none of her stuff would fit anymore. She told me they aren't allowed to wear civilian clothes, even while on leave for the weekend. I asked "what about a swimsuit"?, and she told me she has a nice, one piece, black ,Navy issue swimsuit that she has to wear if she goes swimming. Then she said she looks good in it, because of the added weight loss! I know she feels good about that.

Katie told me she will have leave with us after PIR from Thursday until Sunday. Then she has to leave GL for Pensicola, Fl for her
A-School on the 7th. She'll be there either 14 or 16 weeks.

Hey,
I don't know where Bahama, N.C. is, but we live in Maiden, N.C. (30 miles N of Charlotte). My daughter Katie is in Div. 242, Ship 13. Katie called last night. She said there were a few girls there from N.C. but I don't know if they talk to the boys.

Hello-
I think my daughter is in the same division as your son and her PIR date according to the navy web site is July 3...so now I am confused. PIR dates are on Fridays unless it is a holiday week which is why ours is thursday....check the navy website and see the graduation dates for which divisions. I checked again today and 242 still has 7/3 as PIR date. The next date is 7/11 and has different divisions listed. I havent heard from my daughter yet either and always keep my cell phone with me just in case she calls....please let me know if you find out anything different...but I hear the navy website is most accurate for PIR dates....tina

Welcome aboard the PIR group! We're glad you're here.

I am a pediatric nursing, splitting time between general peds and PICU. I am back in school working on an FNP masters.

If you can't run to your son, our group will CARRY YOU!!
