Jacqueline, do you know how long a-school is for AE's? And at what point will my son know where he will be after a-school? Seems I'm not the only mom who doesn't get much info from their sailor. What's this I hear about a "dream list" where they l...

Barb, I've been a little worried. We live too far inland, so I've never been as close as the boys are to a hurricane, but from what I hear, if it had gotten very bad, they would have moved the guys to Albany, GA. But sounds like it has fizzled out...

Paul, my son just got to Pensacola last week. I am glued to the weather news. Hope someone can fill us in on what the procedure will be if Ida makes landfall at NAS.

Thanks for the updates on the hurricane. If it's not Boot Camp to worry about, it's a storm. Just being Moms, I guess!!

Hi Dale!
It's good to hear from you again! It takes some getting used to having to take second place to our sons girlfriends, doesn't it? I'm still trying to get used to the empty nest syndrome. It sure isn't easy! Yeah, I hope we can meet each other up at Great Lakes! I've been praying off and on all day as I get time for the guys going through the battlestations. I was reading about it on one of the sites -- I guess they really make it realistic to the recruits, which I'm sure is very beneficial to them in the long run, but probably very hard to get through at the moment. With all the prayers going up on their behalf, I'm sure they'll do just fine!

Hi Dale!
Thanks for introducing yourself & your hubby to me. I'm sorry I forgot to introduce myself to you -- how rude of me! (Guess I'm so excited about this coming w/e that I forgot my manners. Please forgive!). My name is Sue and my hubby is Ken. Did you get a phone call Sunday? From reading the comments for Ship 06, Div 949 it looks like others did. I didn't get a call from him; however, my son's fiancee did. (Guess I know how I rate, huh? lol!) She said he sounded very upbeat and is excited about upcoming graduation. Please pray that I'll be able to get into the drill hall to see the ceremony. Originally I didn't think I was going to be able to go, so he didn't put me on the list. As it turns out, two of the people on the list can't go, and I got things arranged at work so that I am able to go. He's going to try to see if he can add my name to the list tomorrow, but I think from what I've read, any changes to the guest list had to be done before graduation week. So I'm not real positive that I'll be on the list at all. I just hope and pray that if I'm on stand-by, things will work out so I'll be able to get in! I'm praying about it and leaving the results in God's hands. In any case, I'll get to spend some time with him, which will be better than nothing!

That really is something that there are a couple of guys in the same division from Calhoun, GA! We live on Reeves Station Rd. Where abouts in Calhoun do you live? I hope we can meet at the PIR. (I know we won't get there in time to for the Meet & Greet at Flannigans.) Are you planning on going to it? I bet it would be fun to meet the others!

Hi - Yes, my hubby & I will be leaving for PIR on Thursday morning, not sure what time yet. Adam graduated from Georgia Cumberland Academy here in Calhoun. Did you print your vehicle gate pass yet? I printed mine earlier tonight. At first I wasn't able to access it - it kept saying to be sure caps lock was off. However, decided to try it with caps lock on, and it worked!!! (My son had the word printed in all caps on the form letter.) It's good to talk with someone else from Calhoun. I'm so anxious to get word that he's a sailor as I know you are too!

Hi JoMo'sMom (Ship 06/Div.949)
I am also from Calhoun, GA and my son is also in Ship 06/Div 949. Just think, only 10 more days to go! I am so excited along with you and all the other mom's re: PIR 10/30/09! I hope I get a letter from my son tomorrow! Take care and hang in there--we're almost there!

JoMo'sMom, responding to your request on 10/17. Our son's PIR was 10/9 and he flew out of Midway at 7 a.m. on Sunday for P'cola, flying commercial. We were able to meet him there and wait with him for the plane: with our IDs, we got permission to go to the USO with him. Sounds like he was on the same bus as ErinG's son, but went to a different airport. You have BS week coming up--hang in there! It's a long week, but worth the wait. Our experience was that they did not run BS on the weekend, fyi.

Hi, Chris' orders had him fly out of O'Hare on a commercial flight. They left RTC at 2am on Sunday the 11th and sat at the airport until 7am. They are issued tickets for flights while at the RTC. He arrived in P-Cola Sunday afternoon (had a significant layover in Atlanta). Because it was a holiday weekend (Columbus Day) they had Sunday and Monday off to explore the base but did have to report back to the barraks by 2200 both nights.
