Hi Darla, How is everything going? Time is nearing for our crew. Are you excited yet? I'm very excited. Hoping that I will get to meet you while in Norfolk. Its going to be sooooo many people there. Did Nate mention anything to you about something that happened while they were in Italy. I dont know if I can mention it on this site.

Hi Darla, no everyone on the ship will not get deployed again, Antonio said he will because he is the only CS in his de. He sounds much better than he did, when they first told him. I guess he had to first get over the shock. He is doing much better. When I talk to him, he have a much better attitude about it. He know that things change with the snap of a finger. I guess when he gets home we can discuss it more. I wont be on the tiger cruise, but for sure I will be in Norfolk when that ship come in, if all goes well. I want miss that moment. We once lived in Norfolk, about 6 years ago before we moved back home to S.C. I have a niece that live there, and we will stay with her while we're there. She wont have it any other way. I pretty much no my way around there. Hope to see you there. Its almost here. Are you excited or what? I'm getting very nervous.

HI Darla, if you can send me your email address I'll send you a copy of the map that they gave us at the vistors center at Norfolk. Once I have it, I'll just delete it from my comment section and email you directly. Danielle will fly to Japan when she first goes over. She had to audition for the Navy band - she did it twice - first time she passed on her flute and they wanted her to work on her sax playing and told her to get a private tutor and come back a few months later. She did that so her second audition went really well. She's been in since August. One of her instructors had been stationed at Norfolk so it won't be any trouble. I usually talk to her daily right now so it shouldn't be a problem for her.

Hi Darla, Sheild's Hall and Drexlar Manor at Little Creek are where the service members stay while waiting for housing. We couldn't make reservations there, but Danielle could. I am looking at the map of Norfolk Naval Station and I can see Navy Lodge on that but nothing that jumps out that looks like the two I mentioned. I'll ask Danielle tomorrow and she can ask one of her instructors. Danielle is still at A-school and she'll be heading to Japan to join the 7th Fleet Band, she isn't assigned to a ship although at times, when on tour, she will be on one.

Hi Darla, my daughter Danielle is stationed at Little Creek and we were down there in December. I didn't stay at the Navy Lodge but we did stay at Drexlar (sp?) Manor - just across from the NEX on the first stay and the second visit we stayed in a suite at Shield's Hall - the suites are only $35/night and just as nice - they have a little kitchenette, a separate bedroom and a couch that pulls out into a bed. Little Creek is much smaller than Norfolk and they are just a few minutes apart. When we were there we went to Norfolk and toured the base - saw the new aircraft carrier that was commisioned for George H.W. Bush about a week before the ceremony - pretty cool.

Hi Darla, Thanks for the wonderful notes you write to me. You are very sweet at heart. I'm so blessed to have you write to me. I cant wait to met you. It seems like I've known you all my life. I know that you are a wonderful Mom also. Yes we are blessed. Antonio called me today. He was upset because they told him that he might be going back out on the ship next year Jan 2010. I was trying to comfort him. I told him to just hang in there. We have to live day by day. Things change everyday. He said that it was a 50/50 chance. I told him that we are going to just wait this out, and pray to God. Prayer changes things. I hope I made him feel better. I will e-mail him in a few. Keep us in your prayers.

Hi Darla, Yes we are soooooooo lucky and blessed. Our boys could have done anything with their lives, but instead they decided to join the military to become a better person. Yes we are blessed. When watching the news, or reading the paper, all you read about or listen to is the young boys out there hurting each other. I thank god everyday for what has happen in our lives. I never had any problems with Antonio growing up. He was always a good kid, well mannered. Thats why I'm so glad that my other 2 sons look up to him. They may not join the military, I dont know, but they see all the attention Antonio gets, and they look up to him. I think my 12 year old is going to be a football player. He absolutely love it. Right now he play for a little league, and he is the starting Running back. Has been for the past 3 years. Next year he will get to play for the Junior High. He is also a principal list student. My eight year old also play football. He is back up running back, but his position on the team is corner back. So right now I have a lot to be proud of. You dont know what to expect out of boys. So far so good. Oh Great News Antonio was studying for a major test for the past 3 months. He called and told me that he passed it. It was the ESWS test. I was so proud of him. He is really working hard. The boys is excited about the cruise. It is $50 per person. How is Nate and the rest of your family?

Hi Darla, Antonio did mention that to me. I was'nt sure what it was called. He was telling me about it, and he wanted his two brothers to come along. His brothers his world. He was telling me that you have to be at least 8 years old. My sons are 9 and 12. They really look up to him now, before they were just being brothers fussing at each all the time. He did'nt tell me that we have to sign up for it. I was thinking that they have to sign up for it. He told me that it was a cost to do it. I will be talking to him later, so I will find out more info. That really do sound like fun. I know that a lot of sailors dont like it. Like you, I really feel bad for them. Antonio is having a ball, and that really make me feel good. Thank you Darla for your support. It really help to be able to talk to you.
