I think my daughter said something about them being done with their 2 week stint on the ship on Wednesday. Or perhaps she meant they had Thursday free. Not sure. We are still hoping she will get leave at Christmas so she can be home for her big si...

Hi everyone! Hannah broke her engagement! She'd been having doubts for the prior month. Glad she did something about it sooner rather than later. They hadn't known each other long, so I'm glad she came to her senses. I'm sure he's a great young ma...

Hi all. So I have to share that my daughter broke her engagement a few weeks back, which greatly relieves me. She hadn't known him very long, and she just turned 20 earlier this month. Plenty of time for marriage later. On the other hand, she is n...

Hi everyone. I've been away from this site for a couple months. My daughter reported to the Lincoln end of July, and is keeping busy with her quals(she's a nuke). She's hoping to get leave approval for a few days right after Christmas for her sist...

Sorry to hear about Hannah's breakup, but maybe it was a good thing. How is her knee doing? Is she still waiting for surgery?
Frank is now "provisionally" qualified as an instructor on the same boat he trained on - in reviewing his quals they discovered that the day he received one of his quals they couldn't run one of the procedures - so he can't instruct at that station yet. (SPU - Staff PickUp).
He bought a 4 bedroom house and is in the process of moving in this weekend. He called to discuss his problems installing his first garage door opener. The house is in Moncks Corner, just north of Goose Creek. He thought it was about 8 miles further from the base than his current apartment, but found a shortcut that makes it only 3 miles further and 10 minutes closer.
He is being weaned off some of his meds without problems so far and passed his PFA last week. If he gets off the meds by end in his 2 years as instructor he will be ready for a sub.
He is hoping to get news that he advanced from taking the E-5 exam so when he stars (SRB extension of enlistment for 2 more years which he has to do for SPU) he will get a bigger bonus.
We're still waiting to hear about Christmas. Hope Hannah get back to see you then.

I just read about a nuke from 20 miles north of here who entered the Navy 3 months before Frank and finished prototype this month. I guess our sailors experience with delays, including injuries and illnesses, isn't putting them that far behind the curve. Frank will be joining his section in another week, but he still has to get off the meds. He is expecting to close on a house in Monks Corner early next month.
I hope things work out with the job. Michigan sure isn't a good place to be looking these days. Washington is a nice area, especially if the sun shines. Glad to hear you've got the wedding schedules worked out. Hannah's delayed deployment should help in making the plans.

Hi Dawn,
yes, jordons ship date is april 5, 2010...long way off...I'm glad to hear about your daughter. She actually sounds alot like jordons high school experience! His friend actually is leaving the navy after not passing this last test in A school for the nuke program. I don't think it's effecting jordon yet, as he's still very optimistic. Thanks for commenting back and the vote of confidence. It's nice to hear that some of these nukes are not valedictorians and have to work their butts off to get to their goal!!! Kind of makes you think they could of been valedictorians, had they had the navy pushing them! LOL

Let me reiterate, jordons not second guessing his decision to be a nuke, his friend is...also, could he also do what your daughter did, but specify that he couldn't leave until after the fall semester of college?

Hi Dawn! thanks for the request. Can I ask you how your daughter did in high school? Jordons a smart kid, but never applied himself, so hoping this will kick him into gear! I do know that he wants to take a semester of college for the addl math and science (he took the dual credit courses in high school, and graduated in 08, so he needs refreshers) to get him ready for A school, but was just wondering. His friend is finishing up A school right now, and I guess is not doing the best, so is second guessing his decision to be a nuke...did your daughter have any problems in the nuke program, is she pretty focused? sorry for all the questions, but just wanted to see how other kids handled it if they don't have the best study skills...

Ah Hah!! So our kids do know each other! LOL!
That is awesome! I will mention it to Huston later today when I see him. He is home for a week before he ships out to Pearl Harbor. What ship is Hannah assigned to?

Hi Dawn,
Sorry for the delay in replying to your post. Congrats on your daughter becoming a Nuke. I bet she and my son might know each other. Did she get her orders? My son has been assigned to the Chicago (attack sub) and heads to Pearl Harbor on July 7th. I'm just gushing with pride. <3

Frank was due home Friday evening but missed his flight in ATL by 3 minutes. He got here about noon Saturday. He is heading back next Saturday, so he is allowing for missed flights, etc. Glad to hear all is well with Hannah.

Hey Dawn, So glad to hear the great news about Hannah passing and becoming a Nuke. I am sure it was a hair raising, nail bitting wait for you. I was really rooting for her. Jeanne and I were talking about maybe meeting for a venting session and a beer at the Moose in Clawson maybe on Monday are you up for it? Janice : )

Great news! The fact that it was sooo long being posted worried us. We talked to Frank on Wednesday night, but he didn't know yet. One of his new roomies lives in Hannah's complex, but he hadn't talked to him yet that day. So home soon and then west.
