Hi everyone! I am getting very excited for homecoming! As I am sure you are! I found info some time back about a (paid) tour of the base. I can't find it now. Anybody have info on this? Thanks!

Yes Kris - I get the undeliverable message every once in awhile. I finally heard from Adam yesterday after a week of not. I heard from him today as well.

any Mom's/Dad's out here that have a sailor in DIV S9 (deck division). I think that's what it is. Six days and all is quiet! :-( Patience is wearing out. And I need to book a flight, etc. Hopefully I will get an e-mail soon!

haha! Well thanks Cathy for posting the number. I believe they will give you a customer ID number so have pen and paper handy. I misplaced that too! :) It's all in one of my stacks of papers!

I THINK the tiger cruise depends on the length of deployment - not positive. As for care packages - I usually send things like pop-tarts, gum, granola bars, lifesavers, beef jerky, the single serve drinks you add to water (i included an empty bott...

Hi Deb: I just noticed that you had joined Moms of Undesignated Sailors. Welcome! I'm not sure when you joined....I backed up a bit but couldn't find a message from you. Anyway, we're all going through the same thing...wondering what will happen now. Cory was in MAA school in Texas. He and 13 of his classmates were sent to undesignated for various reasons. Cory is now in Little Creek, Va. and really likes it. I don't know what will happen from here, but he's still a sailor and I'm still VERY proud of him.

Depends what he wants to be. He can request an “A” school after being on board the ship for 12 months. But the problem with that is he will have to get the Ships COC approval, which is hard as they would loose a person and not get someone to replace him on the Ship.

What he needs to do is talk to his COC and ask them if he can go talk to the CCC on his ship to see what rate he quals for.

There is a program called PTS (perform to serve) which a Sailor has to be put into if they are going to stay in the Navy. If the Sailor does not have a rate, he will get a rate this way. Only problem with this is this is done 15 months prior to the Sailors EAOS.

If he ASVAB score was really bad, he can talk to his COC about taking a basic skills class, than retaking his ASVAB test so he can qual for more rates.

Does that help?

Hi Deb ! My daughter is on the USS Comstock . She is a bosansmate (not spelled right) and also does some yeoman work in the office when needed . She loves being on the ship. They are scheduled for a long deployment in January (9 months) which will be really tough on me.

My son left the 15th for Whidbey Island, Washington. He didn't have a sponsor, so he just winged it. It would of been nice if he had one since he's still new to traveling alone. Your son is lucky to be going to San Diego. It's really cool there.

Deb I asked my son and this is what he said. Tell him to go to the air port.. Then goto the uso.. And tell them he is
reporting to san diego and he needs a duty driver.. They will take care
of them..
