Hi Ladies, I have been a navy4moms for a little while, but just found this group. I live in the Spring Branch area. Around Holister and Blalock. My son is a ATC and has been Navy for 15 years now.
My son has been a AC for 9 years and a sailor for 15 years. He went to a softball tournament with civilian and miltary ACs. They all stayed at the same hotel. Needless to say they sat around and talked. The next day I spent a whole game listening ...
Hi Debbie, I must be doing something wrong. I can't find the discussion forum "Contractors". Do you know where I can find more information on this topic? Thanks, Debbie M
I am a mother of 5, grandmother of 9 from Houston. My oldest child is currently in the Navy. My oldest daughter served in the Air Force and one of my son-in-laws served in the 1st Iraq war in the Army. I so proud of them all. I love being a Navy mom, even though it is hard at times. I am very happy I found this site. It helps alot.
I am here to support or represent my:

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
As a new Navy mom I learned patents. Waiting for a phone call, a letter, or just waiting for him to come home.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
Hi Debbie. I've got to make this a quick note .I'm getting up early to go over to the church to make cherry pies all day, and then out to a play with my husband for Valentines. Colin's ship is a guided missile destroyer, usually just referred to as a "destroyer". Enjoy those grandchildren on Valentines.
Thanks, Debbie for your kind comments. WOW! You have nine grandkids! Do they all live near you? There were a couple of grandmothers on our Tiger Cruise who each brought a grandchild with them. The carrier that our son's ship accompanies is the Ronald Reagan, so that is the carrier that you see in several of the pictures.
Debbie, I finally put some pictures from the tiger cruise on my page tonight, along with a few of our new granddaughter, Natalie, who was born six weeks early. She is home now and is doing great. I managed to get all my pictures in reverse order. There were 45 tigers on our son's ship, eighteen of which were female. It was an excellent experience! Thanks for your advice.

Dear Debbie
My son was a Nuke and his last name is Huszar (whos are) if your son was a nuke on the Reagan they probably did know each other. However 15 years is a very long time so your son is probably a much higher rank than my son was.
Your welcome to e mail me at my regular e mail addy ReaganRoundUp06@aol.com I run a military pen pal and support group so rarely come to this site simply because i have very very little time. I spend about 12-14 hours a day running my group and many days up to 18 hours

Just a quick note to say thanks for all the info, Debbie. I already have a good book to take along. I was wondering what the showers would be like. So, thanks for filling me in on that. We still haven't heard anything else from our son or the Navy. Probably, tomorrow we will get word from him. Yes, I will tell you about our tiger cruise when we return.
Debbie,
Thanks for being willing to share some of your tiger cruise experiences. Were you on the aircraft carrier? My son is on a destroyer which is a much smaller ship. What is the general schedule for a day? Do you have any pointers of things you wish you had known before you went? We still do not have any official word or a list of what to bring. There is so much to do before we leave in nine days.
Mornin' Debbie - just stopping by to say HI!!! We need to plan that get-together. I'm going to PM you my phone numbers to get things rollin'...if you want, PM me back yours and we can get some coffee and brag about our Sailors!!! Whoo-hoo - Go NAVY!
Hi Debbie! I hear very little from my son; they are so busy; but he at least makes it a point to write me an "I love you" e-mail every day. Sometimes its frustrating that he really cant tell me what else is going on, but its ok. I know we will have LOTS to talk about when he comes home!!!
Where's your son stationed now? Things do indeed happen fast in the Navy! I'm so glad you go to see him!!! Gotta run - laundry calling me. I will talk to you soon! Have a great evening, Debbie
Morning Debbie - just wanted to stop by and say hi to you! Hope you have a great week!!!
Have you heard from your son recently? My son's e-mails are getting shorter and shorter...guess they are really busy. The thing I miss the most is getting to hear his voice. I guess he thinks that because we e-mail every day, that I'm placated and happy...LOL, little does he know how much a mommy has to actually HEAR the words "hi momma" and "I love you momma" every now and then...Ah well, hopefully he will call me at least SOME while he is so far away!
