I work hard being a good "soldier mom" keeping emotions in check, and encouraging other Mom's to be strong.. But today I cried....

My two eldest son's are in Iraq they havent seen each other in a long time... I found out that they might get to see each other any day now... I cried today.. cried tears of happiness they will see each other... tears of sadness because tomorrow on Mothers day 2 of my son's will not be here with…

My Army Son

Today was a very sad day.. I had to say good bye to my son as he heads back to Iraq... its funny the things we think of as they walk away towards security... you think back to that little bundle of joy you brought into the world.. for me it was 21 years ago today I brought him into my life... He was such a wonderful happy little boy... daring and courageous.. he is my heart...

Each of my son's were a part of me.. but with my Army son our connection is so strong and unbreakable;… Continue

Hi Debby, I am so grateful that my son isn't in Afghanistan but I know he would go if that is where they wanted him. He seems very pleased and confident with his job on the sub in the Pacific. Sorry to hear you have two sons over there. I write to our troops, all branches of the military, through Soldiers' Angels, a nonprofit organization I belong to. If your sons are signed up with Soldiers' Angels, I may have sent them a letter when they first deployed. However, we have so many over there, I might not have too. I pray for all of our troops so know that your sons are included in my prayers for their safety and well being. Peace be with you, and Blessings,

Hi Debby, How are you doing? I was so glad to hear from my son a few days ago. He sounded so happy. I have been joking that I don't know if it is because my submariner had his feet on the ground or because he was finally seeing another country. Just good to hear him safe, happy and confident. I am happy for him. You have quite a list up there. My, I never put them all in one paragraph before. My Dad was a Marine on the Yangtzee just before WWII was declared. There was fighting but it was not officially the war yet. He reached his discharge date before the war. My father-in-law was a Marine too and interestingly enough, he was in China too. I have many classmates who fought in Vietnam, some came home, some wounded, some KIA. My brother was in the Navy and so were 2 uncles. One uncle was in England during WWII. The others, I really don't know all the places they were. I know many Veterans.. When I lived in Toledo, OR we had a Vet named Johnny Cooper who was close to 97 years old last I heard. I have stood in flagline with the Patriot guard Riders; one PGR friend killed recently near Oregon City. I belong to Soldiers' Angels and have supported our troops for about 5 yrs. or so. My first husband was in the National Guard 40 yrs ago. Have a great day. Blessings,

Hi Debby, I don't know if you are signed up to receive the US Navy photos of the day update but if not I thought you might like to see this one, not that I have any clue where your sailors are located. http://www.navy.mil/view_single.asp?id=91499
Blessings,

Hi Debby, You are really carrying a heavy load. May God give you strength. Are your sons adopted by any organizations? On Navy4Ms, Molly has an adopt a sailor group, and I am not only a new member of N4Ms but I have also been a member of Soldiers' Angels for about 5 years or so. There are about 30 teams on Soldier's Angels who support our troops of all branches in many ways: Adoption, Chaplain Support, Wounded TLC, Outreach to families back home, etc. You can find them at www.soldiersangels.org if you are interested. The Adopting Angels write a letter once a week and send a care package once a month unless their adoptee prefers other arrangements due to their location, like rural mail drop only, or not much room on sub,. With 3 sons deployed, you might like their help in supporting them. We also need more angels if you are interested. I believe Molly's Adopt a Sailor group is growing too so maybe you can get a Sailor mom to help support them. I only have one son and he deploys soon. Makes me sad that he will be gone through the holidays and it has already been a year since he had leave to come home. We all miss him so. blessingss,

Debbie, I watched the Riverine Series you have on your site. Thank you for posting it, I have been curious to know what the Riverines do. I do pray you get your wish of "ENOUGH ALREADY" very soon and that your boys come home safe.

I would love to be able to keep in touch with you Debbie. You have helped me so much already with many words of compassion and wisdom. I was so glad to hear when your son got home--up here in NY in Watertown, right? I know you still have the Riverine son "in the sand". I am the one with the grandson in the Riverines, currently in Iraq. Should I leave you my email here?

Hi Debby, I saw your posting on the this site. My son is in Riveron1 Det2 and is stationed in Little Creek. He has been to Fort Pickett several times for training. I have seen all the videos regarding the training for the Riverines and can see that it is very intense. You said that Riveron1 will be going on deployment early 2010. That is my understanding talking to my son. He doesn't tell me very much. Do you know about when they will be deployed? Are they going to Iraq? I know I am asking too many questions, but I am concerned. This will be Steven's first deployment, but not mine. My other son was in the Air Force and was in Kirkut, Iraq in 2004. I know my son is well trained and ready to go, not so sure I am!!
