Sorry I assumed she was going to field medic, is she going to a hospital there? There was a form to fill out if she wanted a sponsor on welcome aboard page. There is a contact info for ombudsmen too who you can contact about questions you have or anything.

Hi Diane,

I wish I would've seen your post earlier. It says your daughter is leaving this morning so she must be gone by now....I did find info about transportation on their website.

http://www.pendleton.usmc.mil/schools/fmtb/contact.asp

It is always good to check out the website of whichever command she will be going whenever possible.

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings.

Hi Diane,
Nice to here back from you. Hope you & your husband are having a good day today.
We know how you are feeling, my husband & I are heart boken as well. it sure has helped to navigate through this site and know we aren't alone. Our son just left for boot camp 2 days ago & like you he is the first out of the nest, very hard, I know. Just know your daughter Alicia is just fine, I here they take good care of everyone.
I also here they keep them very busy.so they don't have much time to think about home. my plan is to write alot of letters, & have some close friends & family write to him as well. before you know it your daughter & son will both be out of boot camp.. & my son Jake will be out. A school from what I here is much better they can have their cell phones. I tell you it has only been 2 days & I miss him tvery much as I am sure you do. We will see them soon.
Tell your son thank you for joining I will keep him in our thoughts he is probably so excited about going! Our son was smiling ear to ear when his recruiter picked him up. & when you see your Daughter tell her thank you.
. I bet you have 2 great kids there.
lets keep in touch
God bless your Family
